To start with we won't pick 5th in the draft. I'd be happy to bet just about any amount of money I have on that. The chance of the Rockets picking 5th is about the same as the Bulls winning the championship. And we've known the cap figures for years you idiot. We don't need them repeated. Corey, First, try and look down when you type so we can read your posts, ok? Second, you guys cleared so much cap room to sign Eddie Jones or Tracy McGrady or Grant Hill or Tim Duncan or Austin Croshere or...Ron Mercer? Damn, isn't that like waiting for Santa Claus and getting your father in his underwear wearing a white beard? I mean, you talk about Houston but if you actually sit down and analyze teams, your team did NOTHING except draft another rookie. What does that make you for this year, 20-62? We kept the same team and lost no one and we were a much better team last year. Elton will be improved. So will Francis. You hear good things about Fizer. We hear good things about Langhi. Fizer is a better player, but we are still a better TEAM. We are standing pat in a way but we are still light years ahead of you. I mean, can Maloney start on our team? Think about it. Guy, all you have to do is talk like you know SOMETHING. Then, you would get respect around here even if you are not a fan of the Rocks. Corey Benjiman: If you had really been interested in objective conversation, this board would have replied in kind. Instead, you were insulting and rude. To be honest, I see some of your points. I was very disappointed with Houston's selection of Collier in draft. However, I think that Houston found a gem in Langhi. I also happen to think Fizer is overrated, and will be a flop-no defense, no rebounding. Your point guard will work out in the future, but he's less developed AND less athletic than Francis (read: less potential). Mercer is more polished than Mobley, but he's not as explosive off the dribble. I think they cancel out right now, but Mobley has more upside. Cato, if he gets 35 mins, could average 12, 8, and 3 which is easily worth what we're paying him (although I admit, at the time I was opposed to the contract). I think the money could have been spent better, but I don't think this is a *bad* dea. Thomas may work out, he may not. Brand is, I admit, a superior player. But here's the real problem with Chicago: Brand won't ever be a superstar. He managed to score 20 and 10, sure, but that was on one of the worst teams in NBA history. Put him on a decent team, and he doesn't do nearly so well. Francis is being compared to "Isaiah Thomas with hops" all over the NBA. The bottom line is, Houston has someone to lead them to a championship, and just needs the pieces. Chicago is directionless, and will be for the forseeable future (I do think Chicago will be good enough to avoid the bottom of the lottery... but no more). In 17 less minutes, Mercer managed to jack up 10 more shots, pulled down 2 more boards, and 1 more assist. I'll take Mobley's line over Mercer's. If you add 17 minutes to Mobley, he EASILY surpasses Ron "lemme shoot it" Mercer. You know what's even funnier? Am sure that at one time or another fans from every NBA team have posted at this site once or twice.... sometimes we get fans that actually have something meaningful to say and you will never see any cc.net members reply anything negative but when you get posters trying to be funny or just trashing the rockets without backing it up then you are basically asking for it.
