    Hello.

I know this thread is 10 years old. I don't even know if Drewdog or anyone else here posts here anymore. What Drewdog described in his first post is exactly how I felt 10 years ago. And here it is, March 2012, and I still feel the same exact way! Actually more tired of it now than ever!

Drewdog says in 2002,"Today, although there are a few standouts, we have been bombarded with this new wave metal from bands with little talent, and a completely generic cookie cutter sound. For the past 4 years my ears have endured enough torture from this garbage to scar me for life!"

I say in 2012, "Today, although there are a few standouts, we have been bombarded with this watered down sound from new wave "metal" from bands with little talent, and a completely generic cookie cutter sound. For the past 14 years my ears have endured enough torture from this garbage to scar me for life!"

You notice it started in 1998 like I do. Some people will say 1995 because they don't remember 1995 at all.

Would you all agree (if you all even still post here) that most of mainstream Rock on the radio hasn't evolved much in the past 10-14 years or is it just me? I don't listen to the radio much anymore. I assume most of you don't. But when I do, it's the same sounding crap except even more cookie cutter and even more watered down!

For the past 10 years have been good bands that were mainstream but they either don't last or it is surrounded by too much other crap. We need a new Nirvana now more than ever! Please God, save Rock, our ears, and our sanity!

Pull this thread up in twenty years. The correct answer should be Foxy Shazam.

The fun part was reading that and NOT realizing it was 10 years old.

    Now it feels doubly sad!

I see the similarities but I think Reptar's sound is way crazier. All the weird fills they will play in their music. I've never seen VW live so I can't compare, but I've seen Reptar 5 times and every time they blow me away with their performance on stage. I think once their album comes out May they will start slowly blowing up the radio. They will never leave the Indy scene though :/.

If you have never listened to Jubala check them out. www.Jubala.com they broke up about two years ago but were amazing. They are finishing up their Masters in Music Theory at USC. If they get back together I think they will be HUGE. They were just too busy to go on tour when they were together so no one outside of the area ever got to hear about them.

    *hipster scarf on*

Nirvana just ripped off Pixies anyway.

Radiohead perfected rock and roll with The Bends / OK Computer and then recognized the evolution of rock to electronica and conquered that with Kid A.

Radiohead is the greatest band of all time.

Radiohead is an amazing band, the Bends is one of the greatest albums ever but they got too weird after Kid A.
