Tiger undergoes surgery on ailing left knee
ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) -- Tiger Woods, who complained often during the season about his ailing left knee, on Wednesday underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove fluid and cysts and likely will miss the season-opening Mercedes Championship, according to a report on Woods' web site.

Woods, 26, was seen wincing in pain several times while swinging during recent events, including the PGA Grand Slam of Golf and the Target World Challenge. The world's No. 1 player said on his web site that the surgery went well and that he expects to return to action early in 2003.

"I had been playing in pain most of the year and felt it was time to take care of it," said an upbeat Woods. "From what I have been told, the operation went well. I'm looking forward to a full-recovery and a great start to 2003."

Woods will stay off his feet for the next week to 10 days, then begin light rehabilitation. As a result of the surgery, he will in all likelihood not play in the season-opening Mercedes Championships, Jan. 9-12 in Maui, Hawaii.

    >>>Damn, I hope this doesn't turn out to be his "achilles knee" that would prevent him from even more stoopid crazy illmatic greatness.:(
Anyone that golfs can understand that the straightening of the left knee is an essential part to completing a thorough power packed downswing. Rather it whips all your **** around like a spring.
*snap* I need that left knee to hit it far.
