Will duh, he looks like a dude that would take the money instead of winning. Plus he would lose like 25 million signing somewhere else and he's not that marketable making up that money in endorsements.
Good points however we just all witnessed how fast you can go from possible contender to last years cavs (well at least that's what there going to be when DWill leaves next year).
Yeah the deal for wallace made no sense. I'f they were going to trade they're pick for someone to convince D-Will to stay they should of confirmed first that D-Will would at least opt in for another year with the addition of that player, instead of just hoping that he would, after they traded a possible top 4-10 pick for wallace who is 29 with 2 years on his contract.
A few things: 1. Lets remember that the Nets have not won more than 34 games a season since 2006-2007. They have been "rebuilding" for 5 years with nothing to show for it. 2. The Nets gave up their lotto pick for 2010 (Favors), 2011 (Kanter) and 2012 for Deron Williams and Gerald Wallace, both of whom are likely to become FAs and can sign elsewhere. Remember, they've already traded away their 2012 lotto pick, so they won't even have much to show for the tanking suffered through this season (unless they win the lottery). 3. Then what do they have left? Marshon Brooks (whose pick they didn't tank to get) and Brook Lopez (who doesn't rebound). Very much doubt that they are very close to contending. 4. Hell, if the Rockets want to tank to rebuild, they are in no worse a position to do so than the Nets. They can just sell off all of the players who might help win games (Lowry, Scola, Parsons, Dalembert, Patterson, etc.) for picks and eat some salaries of bad overpaid players for additional picks. The team just hasn't chosen to do so.
Marshon Brooks was the STEAL of the draft. See this kid up and coming.Been watching him since his Providence days, pure scorer.
never? lakers went from first round playoff losers *cough*, added gasol and straight to the top of the west.
D-Will is going to leave and they will be left with their best player as Gerald Wallace. I'm sure he will carry them to the promised land.
Humphries is a UFA and Lopez is an RFA. Anthony Morrow is a UFA after next season. Gerald Green has a lot to prove before people start taking him seriously. Marshon Brooks looks pretty promising I guess.
agreed. they actually ran a bunch of plays for him and iso'd for him in a game against the bucks a few days ago
The Nets are a better example of team that tried to get good by trading for a superstar instead of tanking.
They're terrible with Deron, they'll be terrible when he's in Dallas. Not protecting that pick through #7 blows my mind.
I am not sure how they are entirely screwed, they have risk to be potentially screwed. but i really think the will do the sign and trade kind of deal. So NJ wont walk away with nothing. The only problem is Dallas doesn't really have anything to give back to NJ. If Williams does do a sign and trade, I do believe Houston would be in the mix. Dallas would have to send NJ something like.. beaubois, odom, Haywood and '14 pick, etc etc. Which would leave them, PG; Williams, Kidd SG: Terry, west,Carter SF:Marion, Carter PF: Dirk, Yi,Cardinal C: Mahimi, This doesn't look like a contender to me.....core players are all on the wrong side of 30. houston would have a better offer and would be close to his home, a younger cast of misfits that play hard. Although we have a smaller chance to landing him compared to Dallas, I do believe we have a good chance to get him. We could offer a package of Lowry, Martin or Scola and multiple first rd picks. We'd still have a great team. PG: Williams, dragic SG: Lee, Bud SF: Parsons, Morris PF: Patt/Scola (if he is here),. C: Dalembert, Camby We'd should still be able to either trade to upgrade the PF and C position or sign another players. Ie: Asik.
