    I think the official reason is that there was an agreement between Dreamworks and Miramax not to release two Leonardo DiCaprio movies on the same day (Christmas Day). Technically, they're not being released on the same day either...Two Towers is Wednesday and Gangs is next Friday.

    They'll both make a ton of money, unless Gangs just sucks.

    Which one? I think the early word of mouth on both is positive.

    GAWD FREAKING DAMN! You got ballz that look like church bells. Calling out Trekkies....in a BBS...??? Are you nutz? They have probably already started plotting against you...tracking down your IP address...honing in on your physical location...little packs of 3 and 4 cc.netters each with their own tasks and responsibilities...Refman, drapg, and Jeff handling the freezing of bank accounts...lpbman, VesceySux, and Vengeance going to the area library's magazine section and filling out 'send more information' cards with your name on them to bombard your mailbox...Rocketman95 teaming up withDr of Dunk and changing your residency status to that of Columbian with a federal warrant being placed on you. And Buck Turgidson, Rocket River, Major, and Joe Joe doing 'round the clock surveilance of your residence waiting patiently for the opportunity to kidnap you and take to their lair.

    Not that I think trekkies are nerds or anything;).

    chance

    PS-LEGAL DISCLAIMER: THE NAMES REFERENCED IN ABOVE POST MAY OR MAY NOT BE REAL TREKKIES. I HAVE NO DEFINITIVE PROOF EITHER WAY. THEY WERE SIMPLY THE NAMES I COULD THINK OF. EXCEPT REFMAN. HE'S A TREKKIE. HE'S GOT THIS DOPE ASS PAIR OF SPOCK EARS THAT HE WEARS TO ALL OF THE CONVENTIONS. AND ROCKETMAN95 THINKS ALL OF THAT STAR TREK **** IS REAL. BUT THE OTHER PEOPLE MENTIONED COULD POSSIBLY BE INNOCENT OF THE INSINUATION THAT THEY ARE TREKKIES. I WANT TO STRESS THE WORD COULD. I HAVE NO DEFINITIVE PROOF EITHER WAY.

    The Houston Press had a funny review of Maid in Manhattan in the issue that came out yesterday. They called it "Jenny from the Crock".

    I'm a trekkie without ever seeing a single Star Trek movie.

    I'm special that way.

    TTT is going to kick all of the other movies' asses.

    "All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
    The old that is strong does not wither,
    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
    The crownless again shall be king."

    Greatest literary quote of all time.

    You didn't like minority report, RM95?? Great movie, though it didn't do as well at the box office as Spielberg hoped...

    Just saw Die Another Day last night. Maybe it's because I've never seen a James Bond movie before (yeah yeah, I know), but I was pretty disappointed. I love a good action movie as much as anybody, but you'd think that James Bond or his car would come away with at least ONE scratch. The best part of the movie was actually that sword fight between Brosnan and Toby Stephens. Roasmund Pike is a SERIOUS hottie...she should have been the Bond girl, but the producers needed Halle Barry's name to sell a few tickets...Heck, even the one liners were pretty weak...C'mon..."Read this, b****"??? Is that the best they could do? How about "Well, then you won't mind if I tell you how the book ends! (STAB!)" or maybe "Well, that's too bad...(STAB!)...because I usually wait for the movie to come out..."

    Oh yeah, how do I get a chain gun accessory for my car? That would definitely help out with the road rage when those battle axes start driving 45 in the left lane....

    Actually, Minority Report left a bitter taste in my mouth because of the last 15 minutes or so. I remember thinking about halfway through it that it was a great movie.

    So, maybe disappointment is too strong a word for that one. However, A.I. sucked.

    RM95...is Catch Me If You Can based on a true story? If so, who is it based on?

    I'm pretty sure it is, however, I don't know who. Someone named Frank I think. ;)

    frank abangail (may be spelling that wrong). i read the book -- interesting read, especially what happened to him once he was eventually caught (or, maybe he wasn't caught.... if you haven't read it). also of note, nowhere in the book is there a law enforcement charcater of any kind chasing him (aka tom hanks' part). he mentions a guy here or there, but he plays no role and there's no certainly no cat and mouse as the trailers imply.

    interested to see what else they've changed.
