What I find especially funny is that when the Rockets do lose a cluster of games everyone is sharting their pants . . . isn't that what you wanted your team to do is suck so they can get a higher pick, why the meltdown?

Why tank? Have everybody making threads of how much we suck after every loss?

 

I have not always been a fan of Morey's moves. But in his own way he is trying to build through the draft. Next year we will have Ppat, Budinger, Parsons, Morris, Donatus plus maybe even LLull and as much as three draft picks. All within less than 3 years. That's a lot of draft picks. And Morey was definitely searching for more. I think he realizes drafting may be his best option to get talent. So Morey is trying to build threw the draft. But he doesn't limit himself to the draft. He is also always trying to trade to improve and sign people off the waiver wire and find gems in the D-League. I think what you mean to say is why can't we just tank one year and get another Hakeem or Yao and Les says he doesn't want to and Morey agrees 100%.

And Morey may be on to something. The best to the worst teams are tightening. We have held our own against the Spurs and Thunder. Parsons is improving and Dragic has been playing phenomenal. Scola is back to his old form and Martin is hurt and will get better again. Gone is the inconsistent weak backup center in Hill and he is replaced by one of the best defensive centers in the league. I have wanted Camby for several years and now we have him and he still plays at an elite level. Perhaps Camby is that missing piece to take us to the top. With him Parsons and lee we have a solid defensive team. We could be the Memphis of the Playoffs this year if we make it.

I would also add with the new CBA now more than ever we need a brilliant GM. There will never be another 3 max player team with the exception of LA and NY. So maybe Morey is onto something. He is afterall a lot smarter than most off us.
