Vucevic was drafted at #16 by the 76ers. Morey could have easily picked him up at #14. Vucevic is a 7 foot center with a 7'5" wingspan, though on the lighter side, Morey probably should have scouted him better. I understand there are many players, but these guys had everything the Rockets need. The only flaw in Vucevic's game so far is his inability to consistently grab rebounds. Fareid was picked up by Denver with the 22nd overall pick. I was hoping for Vucevic from the beginning. I was shocked when they picked Marcus instead. Then I bought in to Cbbxy's thread about Morris potentially being a game changer at SF... Only time will tell.

3 players from the draft, regardless of when they were picked -Parsons: very promising. Solid contributor to playoff caliber team. -Morris: has shown flashes (S.A. game) but has not been able to crack rotation, but this is more a testament to Parsons' impact. Hasn't had any meaningful playing time so jury is undecided. -DMo: unknown, much like how Rubio was last year while he was in Europe. Daryl has shown over the years that over half his picks usually turn out ok. That is darn good odds and I'd take that any day.
We have to wait and see at least one more year. I still have high hopes in Morris, he has huge upside and could be a beast at SF. We weren't really packed at that position so I can understand why Morey drafted him, especially with the potential and versatility. I also think they had high hopes in Hill, signing a good FA Center or trading for one, so that's why they didn't draft Vucevic, add the "soft" label and it makes more sense.
I wahted him also, but I'm happy with what we got. Besides, we also need consistant rebounding which as you say Vucevic doesn't have.
They are looking good, but we still dont know what we hold in Macus Morris and Motiejunas so we shouldnt get ahead of ourselves.
The other Morris which is the crappy one is play well for the suns, which means one thing. Mcfraud can't develop players.
Marcus Morris will be at least 10 times better than either of these guys. Put that in your paper If you have need of news.
Vucevic's playing well but he still has a lot to prove. Only 17 minutes a game and only 34 games so far this season. Same thing applies to Faried, but even moreso. Jury is still out on Morris and Motiejunas. I'm becoming more skeptical about Morris with every game he doesn't win PT over Budinger/Patterson, but you can't definitively conclude anything yet. We've a deep team. Motiejunas looked REALLY good in Europe. He could be better than either Vucevic OR Faried. And then there's Chandler Parsons. If you're going to bash Morey for missing out on cherry-picked rookies, you have to give him credit for finding a guy playing as well as any of them with more minutes and more games played
I didn't like the Marcus Morris pick at the time of the draft and definitely wanted among others either Vucevic; Fareid or even Leonard. Marcus Morris is a classic tweaner. Everyone knew he wasn't an NBA 4. He fits neither PF (short stature and short-armed to boot without quick twitch hops) nor SF (offensive shooting skills but definitely a defensive liability at the wing - didn't we already have that in Chase Buddinger) in the NBA. So I just flat didn't want him on draft night, and I almost puked in disgust on draft night when he was the pick. The fact that Chandler Parsons took Morris lunch money and starting job (see what Scola said to the Rockets brass about Parsons after just their first NBA practice together) just confirmed Marcus Morris is a tweener we didn't need. On top of it all, Morris seems surprisingly immature for a seasoned collegian player. It didn't take him long at all to land squarely in McHale's dog house for flapping his gums. What a punk! Even Joel Pryzbilla has been traded for other valueable assets a time or two in his NBA career, so if Vucevic didn't fit the bill as a starting NBA 5 (and no one thought that he would on draft night or he would have gone much higher), he would at least have been moveable later like Pryzbilla (and at the time we didn't even have Yao or Dalembert, so with only Jordan Hill on the roster, we definitely had room for a back up center on the squad. What will we ever get in trade for an immature punk playing in the D-league who couldn't outplay a 2nd rounder for a spot on the team? That draft pick ain't looking very good right now. Even knowing what we now know, wouldn't Dalembert; Camby and Vucevic (as an injury back-up) look better than Parson's; Buddinger and a D-League tweener? Having said that, I love the trade for Camby yesterday, and I am admittedly a Darrel Morrey supporter and fan. IMO, he is a great GM, I just didn't like that one draft pick, but I'll stay the course with Morrey.
