would have liked to see them add a #2 wr, which they have never had (laurent robinson, eddie royal, manningham, etc.). hopefully, they will address this early in the draft, but i'm not holding my breath. i would have thought that signing a legit, veteran backup qb would have been a priority (campbell, orton, even henne), but i guess i was dead wrong on that. that's about it as far as satisfying my desires go. i understand that getting o-linemen re-signed is now a priority, as it should be. finally achieving success after 10 years, then immediately seeing key pieces being cut or leave without addition is a bit frustrating, that's all. people are confused as hell about the cap; what is available, what can be available, who can be signed, etc. some people are acting like it was always a given that all of this would happen, and they knew it would . that's BS. as the great daryl morey tweeted about jeremy lin, "anybody who says they knew misleading U."
oh, i left a free agent out that i would have liked to see them show some degree of interest in, but i'm not going to bring him up in this thread.
Love Mario but it's more important to extend Brown, Cushing, and Barwin. If we can get that done I will be happy. The Texans are not in cap hell. Their recent FA acquisitions like Smith, Joseph, and Manning are not bad contracts and are worth the money. IMO only the Ryans contract looks excessive now and that's just because of his injury. The Texans have top talent at multiple positions. AJ, Daniels, Foster, Schaub, Duane Brown, Cushing, Watt, Joseph. Talent gets paid and you can't have all stars at every position thus a guy like Mario can't be fit under the cap. The idea that the Texans have mismanaged the cap is just absurd. They spent last year with great results. But you can't spend every year.
I agree it doesn't really matter. The texans just couldnt afford that price but still, it will be a little painful to watch him tear it up on another team. At 27 he is just prime for having some big time years in his future
Even though all the signs were there, with the Texans' salary-cap constraints, he would leave I can't help feeling sad he won't be part of the team anymore. I'm still glad the Texans drafted him. I hope he has an awesome career with the Bills.
Thats all I am seeing as well. Hope they do something with their draft picks. As for Mario, I am sure he will do well and earn his $ in Buffalo. Thats a lotta money
Mario emotional about leaving Texans & Gary Kubiak Spoiler Texans happy for Mario, sad to see him leave Spoiler
I thought a bunch of teams would want to talk to Mario, but it seems he was locked into Buffalo and that was it. I wonder how many other teams were really interested. I guess maybe buffalo was the only team offering max money and that's what Mario was most interested in.
They will soon relize they overpaid for a guy that can't stay healthy and wil alway miss at least 5 games a season.
Why, do we as fans, hate on a guy after he gets traded? I'm happy for the guy. Mario is a stand up guy, never complained and did his job.
