Morey pulling the trigger with Portland and not NOLA tells you what you need to know. NOLA not finding any suitors for Kaman confirms it soundly. Despite chatter that Stern was being more reasonable, they kept the price tag too high.
It helps the team in the short term without affecting any of our long term flexibility. It's textbook definition of rebuilding whiles competing. It's a win/win situation. If Camby helps us out, we get to continue our playoff push and indirectly raise the value of our players. If Camby doesn't, no big deal he's an expiring like Flynn and Thabeet. The thing I like the most about this deal is Flynn and Thabeet were basically throw in's when we got them, they were never our target anyways. So we just basically traded garbage that we had to pick up as a result of a deal for a player that could make immediate contribution who we could just walk away from if he's useless. It's a "meh" move, but "meh" in a good way. Certainly not a lateral move.
Marcamby Mutombo Can see that being his role, minimum minutes veteran backup like Deke Though Kaman's the better player
Per 36 minute production this season... Camby: 14.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks Dwight: 14.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks Kaman: 10.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks Obviously Camby doesn't produce points on par with the other two guys, but on the defensive end he's one hell of an addition.
Only on this board do people debate a draft day trade against a player that is not even on yall's team. lolololol
FIFY. Especially since the requirements seem practically the same and if not to avoid having to deal with the league, it seems to me the Rockets choseto have Camby over Kaman. How is that not worth debating in a board?
I like Kaman a bit better but honestly not much difference for our team's purposes. Camby will do just fine.
