I hate intellectually lazy posts such as this one. Please read the entire thread. I've already pointed out other reasons why the article is biased. TIA
This really ain't that hard people. There is no evidence one way or the other. Also, neither Zimmerman nor the police are saying much. Pretty much everything that is coming out is from the mouth of the Martin family attorney - hardly an unbiased source.
Corrections to my earlier post: 1. Trayvon was shot 70 yards (not 70 feet) from his dad's house. 2. Zimmerman is 250 lbs. 110 lbs heavier than Martin. Without proper fight training, I highly doubt that Martin posed a threat to kill or permanently injure Zimmerman.
The family of a Florida teen who was fatally shot after an encounter with a neighborhood watch leader on Thursday asked the police department investigating the death to release 911 tapes that may help explain how the young man died. Family members said 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, of Miami, was visiting his father and soon-to-be stepmother last month at their home in a gated community in the Orlando suburb of Sanford. He had gone to a convenience store to buy some Skittles candy and was returning home when he was confronted by an armed man who was head of the local neighborhood watch, family member said. The man hasn't been charged. His name was redacted along with Martin's name in an initial police report but he was identified as 28-year-old George Zimmerman in a police report released Thursday. The report said Zimmerman initially called police to report a suspicious person in the neighborhood and minutes later 911 dispatchers received several calls of shots being fired in the neighborhood. Zimmerman told police officers that he had shot Martin and officers found a semiautomatic handgun on him. The report said that Zimmerman's back was wet and he was covered in grass as if he had been on the ground. He was bleeding from his nose and the back of the head, the report said. A police officer said he overheard Zimmerman say, "I was yelling for someone to help me but no one would help me" while he was being treated by paramedics. Zimmerman has been interviewed three times and is cooperating. He is claiming self-defense, even though he was following Martin, said Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee. "There is some physical evidence and some testimony that would corroborate some of that story," Lee said. The 911 tapes haven't been released because it has critical information and detectives don't want it to influence the testimony of prospective witnesses, the police chief said. Nobody answered the phone at Zimmerman's house despite attempts by The Associated Press to reach him Thursday. Martin's father, Tracy, said Thursday that family members were upset that no arrest had been made. He described the neighborhood as mixed race but his attorneys said they believed Trayvon Martin was being profiled at the time of the encounter because he was a young black man. Zimmerman is white. The attorneys also questioned why a neighborhood watch leader would carry a gun. "He was stereotyped for some reason," attorney Ben Crump said of the victim. "Why was Trayvon suspicious? There are hundreds of children in that community. The police chief said residents upset by the lack of an arrest so far should wait until the investigation is completed, as soon as next week. The State Attorney's Office will then decide whether to present it to a grand jury. "I understand the emotions and the response from the community ... based on the limited information they have," Lee said. "We just hope they would allow us the time to conduct a thorough and fair investigation." They should give you unbiased facts for you to make a more informed decision.
Yea they're not saying much at all. If it was so clearcut self defense then give us the reason. its interesting that people want the facts from both sides on certain events but on others they only need to hear one side of the story
There's a dead body and a confession from the shooter that he shot Martin. There's a 911 call showing that it was Zimmerman who was trailing Martin. Yes, FL is a stand your ground state and there is a chance that Martin committed aggravated assault/battery after Zimmerman approached him. Zimmerman's words don't prove this. Martin having skittles/tea line up with the story that he was just walking home from the store. Of course the family is outraged and is coming out to the media because it's been TWO WEEKS since their son was shot.
Even If the unarmed 17 yr old kid (excluding race) DID get aggressive he had a right to do so with some man (with no authority) tailing him, getting out of HIS car to just ask questions about why he's walking the streets. Weighing 110lbs less than the man, the kid decides he has the upperhand and proceeds to beating the man up. the man hollars for help WITH a gun on his person AND his phone still patched in to the police and fires into the aggressive kid.
could either of these events have happened? 1. Trayvon Martin just robbed a car, saw Zimmerman and tried to attack him since Zimmerman was a witness 2. Trayvon Martin was high on a controlled substance, causing him to attack Zimmerman
3. Trayvon Martin could have morphed into a demon from hell. This just goes to show that someone who is well versed in criminal law in florida can get away with murder under the perfect circumstances. All anybody is asking for is the truth to come out.
He can get aggressive. But Zimmerman has no right to shoot him unless he feels that his life is in danger or that Martin could have caused permanent injury.
I look forward to this brand new bigtexxx who is willing to reserve judgment on important issues until he has all the facts. This should make you into a very valuable poster around these parts. I'm really encouraged by this new development ... I expect that you will loudly voice your concern with rushing to judgment in all cases where the facts are not firmly established.
Oh yea he does. I'm sure if I tailed you walking to your house and got out my car asking you questions you'd be defensive. I discern that based on your rhetoric from here. But just be real and admit you dont care to give any person of African descent any type of benefit of the doubt. Hiding your racism (poorly) behind questions to doubt the validity and credibility of a deceased kid who can no longer tell us what really happen. So actually the bias is not on the kids side its on Zimmerman's side b/c he's the only one giving info into what happen. Thanks have a nice day
He was hyped up on Mountain Dew and wanted to go to rob some people to buy 40s and pick up some hoodrats at the klub. He may think it's subtle enough, but it's not.
