How can he show his ability on the bench?

Rotate better, to a different seat after timeouts.

It's gotta be frustrating to relize he can't out play a 2nd round pick for the starting spot or another 2nd round pick for a spot in the rotation. Maybe an off-season will help him.

Markieff needs to worry about his own game. He's been on a downward spiral of late, and barely got any time the last two games. And he can't stay out of foul trouble. He fouled out of 2 games in a row (both in under 28 minutes of action) a bit back, and picked up 2 fouls in his 3.5 minutes of gametime last game.

I wonder where and what cxbby's explanation is for your observation.

Yep just like how Jeremy Lin couldn't outplay Flynn right?

Everyone has played over Morris, at this point I doubt it's because he's being outplayed. Also you can't say that for sure unless you are there at the practices and watching him play.

If Lurch thought he could help he would play. He was drafted with a hope and a prayer he could play SF. Don't look like it to me. If he were able to play SF in the NBA he would be ripping some new a**holes in the D League.

The Rocket's right draft pick is now in San Antonio. But you know what? Parsons looks pretty good to me.

Right, it is hard to say what the compelling reason for keeping Morris on the bench or in D-League, because if we were there, witnessing it every day like the Rockets coaching staff is, we'd quite possibly understand that there is a legitimate reason. Maybe he's a spoiled, self-entitled, star wanna-be, or maybe he's just not getting the offense very well, or maybe he's unable to defend well enough. Whatever the reason, it's probably a reasonable one, regardless of whether we can see it or not.

But being reasonable is just not the CF way.

Nobody said Flynn outplayed Lin. Three guaranteed contracts at PG is what doomed Lin with the Rockets.

Completely different situation. Lin was picked up on a non garunteed 10 day contract. Flynn has a garunteed contract. Both were battling for 3rd pg. Ten days really is not a lot of time for a team to evaluate a player. Rockets cut the non garunteed money. Cutting Lin was a money decision plain and simple.

Morris is a lottery pick with high expectations and has gotten beat out for playing time by a pare of 2nd round picks. The Rockets have had lots of time to analyze him now. If he were better than Chase he would be starting.

Cutting Jeremy Lin was a money decision.
Not playing Marcus Morris is a basketball decision.

    Hopefully Morris will improve.

Improve from what? He hasnt had a shot yet. I would hate to see him elswhere before we really know what he's capable of.

My 2 cents is that they well know what they have in MM and are trying to dump him at the trade deadline. He was probably doomed the moment both he and Parsons hit the same floor in training camp. The coaching staff's don't take long to evaluate talent when they are on the same floor together and why give potential trading partners any more NBA court film to view?

You earn your shot on the practice court. If your clueless there why in the world would any competent coach put him in a game. I'm not questioning his talent just his readiness which he obviously is not.

    Oh boy I hope not.

We all seen how that worked out with Jeremy Lin.

It's too bad the 6ers didn't just trade us Turner, turns out that would have been a steal...sometimes you just need to give these young players time...

Why is everyone getting on him in the practice court? Has some of you seen him play? Is there some quote I am missing where McHale or another coach has said that he is not ready or that he's not practicing well?

McHale says all I need to here with all the DNP Coaches Decision about what he feels about MM's readiness.

Yeah because if you have a DNP-CD that clearly means the player is not ready. Just ask Jeremy Lin, hell look at Chase who collected a few of them then came out proving that T-Will should have never got minutes over him.

I'm not sure why Mook has not played yet or given his shot. But i'm not going to sit here and say "He's not practicing well." like i'm some coach for the team.

I don't know any franchise players that come off the bench...

I don't know any all-stars that come off the bench. (MANNNNU)

Im sure you're at every practice.

Anyways, some guys are gamers, give him some burn. Its not like the NBA title is on the line. Hell 99% of our roster is inconsistent at best.
