the difference of one spot means you get a shot at the lottery.

the difference of one spot can mean drafting a difference maker or drafting someone who is not a difference maker.

call it tanking or call it guacamole..doesn't matter.

I don't know if we overvalue our players. Looking back at the failed Gasol deal I think we were offering a pretty good deal and I felt like it was an even trade. With respect to Lowry, I don't think Morey is willing to give him up easily due to his great contract and I don't think he should give him up easily.

Although I do agree Morey has overvalued his assets, I like the McHale hiring.

The mess that's the Rockets this yr was created by Stern. Screw Stern

True, but we would still have higher pick and we would have a lot better chance at landing in the top 3. I don't see how you can just dismiss it when the standings are so close. We are 3 games out of being the 13 seed in the West. Our fate is pretty much set with this recent run and Lowry's infection. I don't see why we should try to win as many games as possible when it's pretty clear that we just need to trade what we have to set up for next year.

Why the hate for McHale? He has done fine, same position as last year, but its not like we have gotten appreciably different players from last year. Parsons is an improvement and Dalembert has been decent, but we don't have chuck and Ppatt has been a disappointment this year + worse years from Scola and Martin. Overall, I think McHale is a very good coach and will work well with Morey.

We knew this season was a throwaway season from the start, not much has changed. Here is to hoping trade day is a good one this year.

I think some of the McHale hate is because of how good Adelman is. Adelman is showing it in Minny.

Anyway, we're still in eighth. We could easily drop to 12th. But I dunno. I want to root for hte Rockets in the playoffs.

Q DaDa: do you think DM the GM just might have been thwarting Owner Alexander by the hiring of Top 50 big name KMc so as to go along with the program while trying to garner a high draftie?

Q 2 DaDa: yep, a turd of a season, doomed since the fateful non-deal. What do you think the season would have been if the Commish had been in NY and not NoNoNOLA?

Q 3 DaDa: why the blazing hell has no '09er gotten run other than Hill?

Q 4 DaDa: what do you think the line-up v Clips will look like Sat?

DD, the 09ers suck. Get over it. I don't want to ever have to watch Jonny Flynn attempt to play PG for the Rockets in the NBA

DD, you got to stop being so cynical, and how is this Morey's fault? He dosen't pick who plays.

Flynn played, he is awful. Hill played he is servicable. Twill played, he is awful. Thabeet didn't play, but he is known to be awful. Don't agree with this assessment.

Don't agree. Playing does not equal developing. He is following the standard path for Rookies and most have developed well.

Don't agree. Its not the deadline yet? LOL

    Agree

    We don't know this.

Definately a low point, but season isn't over. Why you chose DM to call out is strange.

I use to blame you fellows here about accepting this loser mentality, tanking, white flags and other worthless thoughts.

But that just who we've become as a nation. A bunch of weak-winded wimps.

Bad timing on the Rockets, we are within distance of the playoffs. There are 15 teams with records worse than the Rockets, don't you think those at least half of those teams think of tanking too. We've gone this far, we can't pull out :p. Half of the teams are probaly playing on edge because of the trading deadline. One day, I know we'll find our franchise player, just looking like not this year (crosses finger).

It is not strange at all Larv, he is the man in charge, the guy making the decisions, it is his strategy the team is following.

He chose the coach, he chose the players, that is what happens when you are the leader of an org, you get the blame and you get the credit.

Right now, DM has done an OK job, but the cracks in his dam are getting worse and worse, and he is running out of fingers.

I am not satisfied with mediocrity, and I don't believe in excuses.

Well well well..:rolleyes:Didn't us tankers warn you about this exact scenario..Rockets are the best of the worst and the worst of the best..well..its too late to tank now..the best we can hope for is to not make the playoffs...and even if we do make the playoffs we'll get bounced in the first round...and look at the roster...the roster is trash...Scola, Kmart, 09ers, another wasted season...another low draft pick...sigh..hopefully we do the right thing next season..and that's Tank & Develop Talent...:(

In case yall were curious here is the percentage chance of landing in the top 3 from each spot in the lotto that I think we could land in if we blow it up. The 8 spot would be extreme, and I think Lowry would have to miss the entire season for that to happen.

    14 - 1.8%
    13 - 2.2%
    12 - 2.5%
    11 - 2.9%
    10 - 4.0%
    9 - 6.1%
    8 - 10.0%

For the sake of fun, let's say that Bogut and SJax are available for Martin and Dalembert....would you make that trade? By making that trade we throw in the towel for this year, but we get a legit center for next year.

Let me explain in a bit more detail, so folks can understand why I am so down on this current team.

    1. I would be happy to root for good young up and coming talent - we have some nice pieces that fit, but not one "High upside" guy that Daryl is always talking about stocking the roster with - where are they?

    2. I said KMart was fools gold before anyone else, and now the board has finally realized that he is exactly that - the guy plays zero defense is going through the motions and is a waste of time on the floor......so, what does McHale do about it? He keeps on starting him....WTF?????? I mean he benches everyone else - holds them accountable - great....but he doesn't do that for KMart? Talk about hypocritical - and believe me, the other players see this too.

    3. Our team's offense is horrible, they no longer run the read and react - something fun to watch and instead run iso pnr ball and don't have the personel to do it. Lowry is not a great PG like CP3, he is an above average one, but he is not good enough to have the ball in his hands all that much, and it is BORING to watch - look at all the turnovers he has this year - and only 1 more assist - I just don't like him all that much - and what used to make him fun to watch, attacking the rim and playing tough defense is pretty much gone, he doesn't play much defense at all anymore, IMO.

    3. Our teams defense is crap - again, why is McHale not holding everyone accountable for defensive effort? He uses that as an excuse to bench some players, yet never benches other - inconsistency leads to an unsteady roster....Popovich would bench anyone - that is consistency.

    4. Overall the team is just boring - no stars, no one to enjoy watching develop, effort is inconsistent, and no hope on the floor right now for that to turn around.

So yeah, this team sucks, it is the worst feeling I have had as a Rox fan for more than 40 years, even the 15ish win team had a draft pick to root for.....we got nothing.....and it looks like it will continue to be that way....

Just not a good time to be a fan, honestly.

    DD - heart on sleeve.

I'm a tanker, but I think the timing for despondency here sucks. The trade deadline is in a couple of days. We're still in reach of a playoff spot. Instead of trading to tank, we might make a trade that adds a signficant asset and finish the season strong and in the playoffs. I didn't agree with the approach we took this season; I thought we should tank from Day 1; but since we weren't tanking, you don't give up right before the deadline. Trade for Pau or Howard or something and follow through. Trading Dragic for a draft pick or trading vets for cap space or whatever to prepare for the offseason -- that's the last gasp contingency plan if no other trade can come through.

DD, when are you going to make a "DD's Rocket Talk" vid again on Youtube? You've always did this when the trade deadline was approaching ...

I would if I believe Bogut is good to go for '12-'13. However, I suspect that is not how the deal would look. And I would want Ilyasova in the deal if I believe I can resign him long term. For PPat to get it done? If EI is a long term Rock, yes.

Where do Lowry and Jennings fit with the teams and going forward? Lowry, it would seem to me, is staying put or going to Bucks. If to Buxies then where does the BJ domino fall?
