I don't mean to be a spoil sport as I love Yao. He certainly appears reasonably bright.

However, if you took the average NBA point guard and made him a foot and a half taller, he could probably do the same thing. Would that make him a genius of the Western or hey, the Eastern! world?

I give up. Whatever you are wanting me to see I can't see it. Was SJC right? How do I get KT out of your quote?

You mean Eric Snow could have made those passes if he were a foot and a half taller?

Quit frankly I don't care how smart Yao is off the court, but didn't somebody post here before that Yao always got the highest makrks in school? I would tend to believe it, I mean c'mon, you can tell that just by the way he talks to the media (in a new language at that).

anyone who can speak two languages is smart.

anyone who can be funny in two languages is even smarter.

intelligence can be measured in a lot of different ways. Howard Gardner has done some interesting research in this area, and you can find a synopsis of his theory here:

    http://www.tecweb.org/styles/gardner.html

I tend to believe that any person who can rise to the very top of any field, be it athletic, political, business. . . what have you. . . has to be very, very intelligent.

that, and the fact that Dynasty probably wears about a size 12 hat, lead me to conclude that, yes, he has a big old brain.

would Yao score well on the traditional IQ test? I'm betting that he'd be no lower than the 130 range someone else threw out.

130's not bad. that puts a person easily in the top 20, maybe 15, maybe higher percent of all people everywhere.
