Rumors circulate about planned shooting at school

HOUSTON -

Extra police officers patrolled a northeast Harris County high school Friday because of rumors circulating about a possible school shooting.

Parents and students at MacArthur High School, 4400 Aldine Mail Route, said they think it has to do with racial tension between black and Hispanic students

"My friend told me to be careful walking home from school," student Javier Carrasco said. "I'm afraid that a friend might die."

Aldine Independent School District officials said they believe the rumors stem from the recent shooting death of a former MacArthur High School student. Officials said they were aware of the rumors, but called them "unsubstantiated." For that reason, they chose not to send a letter home.

Concerned parents said they were upset that they were not warned.

"Maybe it's not true, but it's better to not take chances," said a parent who did not want to be identified.

My sister goes there she told me they already caught four kids with guns. It took me more than an hour to get my sister out of school. it reminded me of 9/11 with all the parents trying to get their kids
