They are all entertainers, except Sandra Fluke who is an activist that is taking a public stance on a political issue.
Has Chris Rock, Lewis Black, or Lisa Lampinelli personally attacked an activist that is taking a public stance on a political issue?
Probably, why? It has no bearing on FB's outrage of protecting "private citizens" That was more of a talking point of democrats then it was reality.
you know who has wrote a letter to Rush with these? "for all you're doing to promote Republican and conservative principles ... [and] you have become the Number One voice for conservatism in our Country."
The only thing your posts have done is latch on to the phrase private citizen that I used. While Rush and the comedians mentioned may technically be private citizens they are also public figures. Fluke is not. The fact that she was thrust into the spotlight and took a stand, doesn't make her a public figure.
1. I laughed at your usage and then told you why. 2. She wasn't thrust into anything. She begged to testify, was denied, then waited for another hearing. In her mind this probably could not have gone better.
I too would wear it as a badge of honour. I'm missing something, surely...in my mind there seems to be 2 different conversations: - should gov. mandate health care to employers? something for which i am against - should BC be covered under one's health insurance? How did the 2nd question become mixed w/the 1st? and If other medication, like Viagra, is covered, why should BC be excluded? Not trying to argue...i feel a part of this equation is escaping me.
Not when they pick on a guy or gal in the audience. The point is that you really can't accurately define this kind of stuff. The woman put herself out there in a very PUBLIC way. She didn't send an anonymous letter. She VIDEOTAPED herself intending for it to be see. She revealed personal details about her life and her medical history VOLUNTARILY... and you don't see her actions as deliberately being public?
Laughs versus outrage as an intended result? Is no one going to articulate why they would oppose BC in a women's health insurance program? (Remember, it actually reduces costs)
but going back Bill Maher or none of those stand up comedians are trying to score political points and have been commended by any democratic leader as the voice of liberals. isn't that how witnesses do? give personal details or experiences which are relevant to the case or policy being discussed?
How does that matter? Even if it did, how would that disqualify anyone from their right to express their ideas. They "might" owe some extra discipline to the group they "represent" but there would be nothing criminal about saying something regrettable. Yes, willfully. As others have noted, she aggressively pursued the opportunity to grab face time on this issue.
1. lol. 2. doesn't match up with the facts except the part about her testifying at the following hearing.
that's what's everyone here is saying. that the GOP pres candidates should voice their opinion against Rush but unfortunately they're too scared of him. anyone here suggesting to press criminal charges against Rush?
But Rush's response was idiotic and wrongheaded. He equated taking birth control pills to having lots of sex, he said 'we' are paying for it like it was a government hand out and that she should post sex films on youtube because of it. Not correct, not in context, not humorous, intentionally slanderous, vindictive and salacious, stupid and vile, and insincere in an apology for it.
Not sure what you are talking about, but doesn't surprise me considering your definitions of 'private citizen', feel free to point out what 'doesn't match up' She wasn't thrust into anything true She begged to testify, subjective was denied, true then waited for another hearing true
Again, I don't want to pay for your erection. Did you want to pay for mine? If so, I'll be planning to forego the Viagra and skip straight on down to Treasures. You can come with and buy me beers in addition to paying for my lap dance.
