Where are the cheap table games at? I like to play craps but I do it for fun and don't really want to spend more than $3-5 per bet.
The strip is a terrible place to play craps. Most all the tables are 3-4-5 odds and I won't play on a table like that. At the nicer casinos the minimum bet tends to be $10 which I also won't do. The Sahara used to offer 5x odds and low minimums but it's closed. The Stratosphe offers 5x odds, too, I think. I usually go to Station casinos where they offer 10x odds. The Silverton is a pretty nice place that offers 10x odds, too. That's probably the best place close to the strip for craps.
This is good advice. I love fremont street and everything downtown has to offer. When I go to Vegas these days I spend more time downtown than I do on the strip. So the OP is going to be there for five days. You will be surprised at how fast those days go by. I would suggest to not try and see everything in one visit, it just can't be done. Fremont is great for gambling and drinking, everything is cheaper down there. I like being at Fremont at night when there is more action out in the street. I've been to Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire and enjoyed both, but five days is not much time, so that may have to wait until another trip. Most people want to explore the strip area their first time to Vegas and that's understandable, but I would spend at least some time on Fremont at night. Fremont has a pretty impressive light show, and they have a Zip line that goes right down the middle of the street that seems to be really popular.
The older and crappier the casino the lower the table minimums. It's obvious, you know, but don't go into the Wynn looking for a $5 table. Excalibur, Tropicana, those sorts of places will have tables with low minimums. I know you don't care about odds but I wouldn't play at a 3-4-5 odds casino just on principle.
Helping my buddy set up his bachelor party in April. For those Vegas experts, should we take the groom to spearmint rhino or sapphire? This will be on a thursday night so...it would be nice if we can get a free limo (I heard spearmint rhino does this if you call them).
As of now I'll only stay at the Mandarin Oriental. No casino there, so there are no poors running around the place. I recommend it.
See Blue Man Group and Penn & Teller for sure Not a fan of the Excalibur, but at least you're close to the action. Stick to the main strip/Rio and if you want to venture, go as far as Circus Circus/Stratosphere. Stratosphere rides are definitely fun, go later at night though. I've had bad experiences at the Cosmopolitan, but I've heard good things. XS is great. Voodoo Lounge is eh. If you are feeling a bit more frisky, head to Freemont street. It's a great experience, but be cautious.
Anyone know where to find that casino from National Lampoons Vegas Vacation? I really want to play 'Guess my number' or 'Paper, Rock, Scissors'. I think I could win on those games, versus the games usually found on the Strip.
How you pay in the end is up to you. When you check-in, you'll need a card to get per-authorized for incidentals/sec deposit. Staying at what's become a nice ghost building is definitely not fun in Vegas. He's either joking or lying.
