i just got a big idea flash in my head a second ago. the reason collier wasn't doing well in the summer leagues was because steve and cuttino weren't on the floor to open it up for him. the rockets brought him in for his outside shot in order to spread the defense. he wasn't really able to get that with moochie, but with steve he will be getting picture perfect passes whenever he's open. i think his play should improve when the season starts. this is just an idea. what do you guys think?

Langhi did not need that excuse and he was supposed to be kind of similar to Collier.

Very true. Collier is the kind of guy who can be more effective on a team or penetrators. Also consider all the back spasms this guy went through, which really hurt his shot/defense and also hurt his lift slightly. He is much better than what the Revue showed- Collier has game if you guys would give him a chance.

Langhi is a good shooter, but is not really very similar to Collier at all. Langhi is a one on one player who is not very dependent on other teammates, much like Mobley. While Collier does have a nice post game, he also has a nice catch and shoot game from the perimeter, and for him to get into rhythm from there he needs the penetrators. Langhi does not.

Langhi is primarily a SF, as he is 6'11'' and some insanely low weight of about 205. Collier is a pretty sturdy 7 foot 250-260. Langhi's a jump shooter, and we've also seen he's got great handles and can slash to the hoop as well. He doesn't post up though. Collier has an inside game, though it's not very powerful, as well as a jumper with NBA range. Basically, the difference is Collier's a big man, and Langhi is a SF.

Cat, for the life of me I cant understand you.

Your the first to jump down peoples throats for dogging Collier, who didnt perform well in the Review. Claiming to give the guy a chance to prove his worth.

But almost in the same sentences claim how good Collier is (Bad showings in a weak review, NOT the nba.) going to be.

So how is it wrong for one person to say he "Stinks" before Collier has "Even played a game in the NBA" ?

Yet you know he is going to be more effective in a game with penetrators?

And I have to tell you. Ive seen Collier play many many times. He DOES NOT have a strong post game, as you continue to claim. Actually his post game is fairly weak for a guy his size.

    Just wondering.

I think the real reason for Collier's bad play in the summer leagues is that he's not that good. Yep, sounds good to me.

    Dreamshake,

I guess we just have to disagree again. I feel he has a very nice post game, but don't feel like arguing all night about it.

I watched the guy in college a number of times, and not just this year. I could of course be wrong with anything, but I think he will turn out to have a very successful NBA career. Personally, I just feel like my arguments of supporting Collier have a little bit more weight than some of those who dog him. Wouldn't you say watching him for a few YEARS in college makes me more knowledgable about Collier and his game than the average Rocket fan who has seen him in two summer league appearances?

I'm pro-Collier, but if he needs to be on the floor with Steve he's in big trouble. He's gonna be on the floor with the second unit (Moochie) and it will be just like the RMR.

I think Collier needs to get quite a bit of NBA seasoning under his belt before he really starts contributing to the Rockets.

I think the fact that the Rox went hard after Croshere, Mo Taylor, Brad Miller, and possibly Bo Outlaw (at least I think they did) is a sign that the Orginazation believes that Collier isnt ready to make any serious contributions this year.

I've never really viewed Collier as an "answer" I think he's a guy who's gonna be a solid 7th-8th man off the bench, and good for creating mismatches against the Shaqs of the league. Of our young core of players, I think we need 1, maybe 2 solid PF/C behind Cato/Taylor/Collier, one of them preferably being a defense and rebounding guy (Foyle, JYD, Wallace, Outlaw, etc. perhaps even T-Wash will be evolve into a Ben Wallace type and fill the role). If we managed that, along with resigning Mo, and drafting Morris next offseason, I'd like our future prospects a lot. But let's not get too far ahead.

i agree with you NIKEstrand. he isn't the answer at center by any means, but he will be a nice guy off the bench if we have steve or cat in their to create for him. he's kind of the travis knight, joe kliene, bill wennington, will purdue, or danny schayes type. he isn't a starting center, but he is a serviceable back-up in a league with a lack of big men. if the bulls won a championship with will purdue manning the middle, then we can do it with cato and collier. (of course we're not winning one anytime soon, i'm just making a point).
