I mean how many of u think that yao ming adjust to nba this fast n doing so good this soon?? to be honest i am a big yao fan but i never expect him him to play like this so soon especially after the first few nba games he was playing, but after the spur game i really think he will be a superstar in 2 years , he is just adjusting n learning so fast, so many critic say he cant rebound good hes not really a shot blocker but yao prove them all wrong i think even most of the yao supporter is suprise how well yao is already playing .Who thought that yao could score 27 pts n grab 18 rebs againist tim duncan n david robinson in his rookie season right!?

No, he will be a superstar by the end of this season, when he leads rox deep into playoff.

I'm not surprised that he's playing well but rather the way he's playing. At the World Championships he just looked like a jump shooter, a lot of his shots were face ups from the perimeter. Since he's been in Houston he's down in the post much more often, really banging in the lane. He's much tougher than I thought he'd be from what I saw at the Worlds. I'm also really happy to see his rebounding and blocked shot numbers lately. Early in the season it seemed he couldn't grab a rebound or block a shot and now he's just scooping up rebounds like crazy and really intimidating people. He's exactly what we needed in the post, a great fit!

I knew all along that it would only take him a few weeks to adjust into the monster he is right now. ;)

Yao has really suprised me. I expected some big games, but not so many against Championship/Playoff caliber teams. His numbers I must admit exceeded my expectiations. If he keeps this up, he's going to blow out my before the season expectiation of him...

give it up to the Rockets management, Rudy, CD, and Les.

    how good are they?

    Cuttino - 2nd rounder
    Francis - ROY
    Yao - ROY
Griffin - ROY candidate last year
Kenny - averaging 10/7/1 for us

and they go out and find defensive gems like TMo and Hawkins...

I thought he would average around 14 and 10 in rookie year. I never thought he'd have such an impact this early. He is now one of the Big Three and can be sometimes counted on carrying the team. How this guy does it in so little time is mind boggling, and one can imagine what kind of player he'll be as a finished product.

I think Yao Ming is a superstar already.

Excellent post Timing, I'm just writing this to bump your post back to the top. He is playing well, but that, as you say is not the big surprise so much as HOW he's doing it!

You could say he's just having a hot week - but I think he's the second best center in the league now!

If he keeps up the performance over the next month then there's no doubt he's a superstar!

Don't worry about him getting voted into the starting spot in the all-star game, if he misses that he'll probably earn a coaches selection

Being the first foreign born player to be drafted number one carried enormous expectations. And with Yao arriving late in the pre-season, I thought, well I should check the Rockets one year later after the rookie from China had one year of experience playing NBA basketball.

But no, Yao is a superstar today. All the talk and hype of this certain seven footer hailing from China apparently are true.

And since he's getting a lot of minutes, plus the Rockets are winning, he's getting what he wants as a rookie.

Yao is today what Jordan was when he joined the NBA in 1984.

It will be great to See Yao ming in the Rookie game and then in the All star game in the same year. Of course Shaq will start but to be a rookie and on the all star squad is going to be awesome for him. I honestly didnt think Yao would be this good this soon but i am not complaining. I thought it would take a Year because of him needed to get stronger.

Yao Ming's growth after 20 games in the NBA demonstrates just how bad a coach Wang Fei is.

I'm a Yao fan after he beat the Shaqless Lakers game. Eventhou without ShaqFu, you can clearly see that Yao is going to be a Great Center with those kind of skills he got (silky smooth 17 foot jump shot, great BBall awareness around the basket, nice free throw and he seems to have eyes on the back of his head. Great fundamental player ala T. Duncan)...Before that breakout Lakers game, I don't know much about him. But let me tell ya, boy it's fun to see Yao develop into soon to be BBall superstar player. My hat to the Rudy T and Franchise. Another players into my growing list of great player in the Western C.
