This is so ubiquitous and so much a part of Western and World culture that it is almost a cliche and the mark of a psuedo-aficianado to praise it... but damn, the Ode to Joy always moves me like no other piece of music. Nothing comes close really. Just brilliant.

Based on longevity, I'd have to say that the greatest song of all-time is probably Psalm 23, but because the original music is lost to history, I don't know if it counts today. I'll go with "How Great Thou Art". It's a Swedish song whose English translation was once considered the favorite song of the UK. My favorite version is by Elvis Presley.

 

Would rep you again if I could. Had my choice been more serious, this would have been one of the few I'd have been considering.
