Not since my early teens unless bowling counts. I get very little exercise. I've not even cared at all about my health until about three years ago so until that point I followed Herman Brood's model: "Whatever makes you feel good is good." I did love playing sports as a kid though (even though I wasn't talented at them) and I still love all sorts of competitive games. I spent so many years in bars more than out of them though that mostly I channeled those pleasures into darts and pool and shuffleboard. Anything that went well with drinking, so I also used to bowl a couple times weekly until I broke my leg. It will never be as nimble as it was and I'd have to re-learn bowling all over again because I can't take the steps I used to take in the way I used to take them or I just trip and fall down. I also can't run anymore.
How about playing tennis outside a bit or something like that? Some light exercise...would probably do wonders for your health (and your mood - I get cranky when I spend too much time inside, and one could probably plot it to my posts on this forum).
I'm not a ginger, no. It's good advice for sure. I have an elliptical machine at home that I was using religiously for a while but I just got too tired and achy to keep it up, apparently from the vitamin deficiency though I thought then it was just depression. My girlfriend also recently got me a pretty rad punching bag and gloves because she thought it would be helpful to the rages I sometimes fly into (you can probably plot those here too ), never against her by the way. But the violence I feel is not of the physical sort so I don't really feel like hitting something. Hopefully through the prescription strength supplements and sunlight I'll soon have the energy for exercise again. I try sporadically for days in a row but so far it's only made me feel worse. I am hopeful that will change soon.
Thyroid and parathyroid are different entities. You definitely need your calcium checked. Your doc will check at it your next follow up when s/he checks your vit d level. You mentioned that you are treated for mental health issues, if you take (or have taken) Lithium, that medicine can interact with vit d/calcium metabolism. Good luck!
Big Mak, I'm not black, no. I'm white. Half eastern European Jew, half Irish Catholic. Thanks for your advice, man. You seem very knowledgable and I will definitely ask about parathyroid and calcium before next panels are drawn. No Lithium in my diet yet. Lamotrigine instead. Along with many other things. But I have managed to avoid Lithium. Are you a doctor?
Mine was 9. Haven't gotten it checked again but I try to get sunlight when I can and whatnot. Not a big deal. You have all the tools to correct it, your choice if you want to or not.

Nothing really to add other than I'm glad to hear you've tracked down the cause of your problems. Good luck to you Batman.

I had the vitamin D deficiency about four years ago. I wasn't eating right & working out. I used to get lot of joint pain. So the doc told me to take 7,000 IU for a month. I haven't went back since then but think my levels are normal. I eat right and work out 4-5 times a week. I feel fine now. Hardly get joint pain anymore. I make sure to eat some kind of dairy every day plus take a 1000 IU vitamin D daily.
I am just recently diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency as well, but my number isn't as ugly as urs My doctor said I have lived a very healthy live style with enough nutrition; even I have a desk job but I still get 20-30min sun light when I commute to work. He said my body just doesn't absorb the Vitamin efficiently. He suggested to take so called "biologically active formed" Vitamin D. Has your doctor suggested sth similar? If you can't change your life style( being a vegan), maybe you should ask your doctor what to take to help the absorption.
I have the same. My number about a month or so ago was 7. Prescribed 50,000IU weekly. Don't know if its working. What I went to the Dr. for still has not been addressed...lol. Supposed to do another check in 2 months for so.
Oh, and also I eat Ice Cream and Chocolate shakes like theres no tomorrow. I always have a bag of Twizzlers by my side (except for today). I also stare directly at the Sun twice a day.
