At 12 and 8, the Rockets are on pace to win 48 games, which would be a 20 game improvement over last season. Raven
After the next five games against 4 crappy teams (LAC, Miami, etc), I certainly hope the Rockets can go 4-1. That would make their record 16-9 and put them on course to win 52 games. It could happen...
55+wins? I doubt. You know, only four teams posted 55+wins last season , Kings, Lakers, Spurs, Mav. 50 wins would be a big improvement for the Rockets.
On our way to a possible 50 win seasons, we are also beating teams which have bullied us for the last few seasons. We toasted the Lakers, which won 7 out of the last 8 against us, in front of their home crowd. Yeah they didn't have Shaq in that game. But still a win is a win. We beat the Spurs which had won 15 of the previous 16 games against us. We got the first win over the Kings since March 28 1999. Good job Rockets.
last season the east is a total joke.... this season the east, while not as good as the west, is able to compete with the top teams in the west..... So dun expect things like 6th seed with 49 wins in the West this season......
50 looks pretty doable, barring a catastrophic injury. We're 12-8, but we've played 2 more games on the road than at home, where we're 8-1. And check out the upcoming schedule: At Memphis Home Clippers At Miami Home Indiana Home Atlanta At Minnesota Then a string of 6 *straight* at home. It's not much of a stretch to come up with a record of 22-10 or 21-11 in early January. Maybe even better if they play as well as they did tonight.
While they are on a 49 win pace & are playing well, we all know that all teams hit a snag sometime during the season. That's why I'll be happy with 42 to 45 wins. Besides, I think 49 wins will get the #2 playoff spot this year.
But the Spurs are stumbling and the Lakers are horrible this year, so somebody has to take their spot. By the way, how funny is this thread now: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46533&highlight The criticism of the Rockets not beating anybody, of Francis struggling, and Rudy's coaching, and about how the Rockets would struggle against a "real" team. What a difference 2 weeks makes!
Here's something else that is interesting. At the time that thread was made just tearing into the Rockets for not beating a winning team, the Rockets I believe were 0-4 against winning teams. The Rockets record now against winning teams? 5-6, probably among the best in the league. Technically you could say they're 6-6 since Washington had a winning record at the time the Rockets played them.
