All I've heard on this board is that Collier isn't ready for the NBA, so my question is how far is he? Will a season on the injured list learning from Dream be enough for him to step in as a shot-blockin Sam Perkins next year? Or does he need 2 or 3 years? If the answer is one year, we don't need Brad Miller. If it is the second one, bring Brad in as our dynasty's Bill Wennington. We already have Jordan (Francis), Pippen (Mobley), Harper (Shandon), Kukoc (Taylor), Longley (Cato), and Rodman (KT). Throw in Moochie Norris, Dan Langhi, and Walt Williams, and you've got a damn good team. But Brad is only necessary if Collier is far away. ------------------
I saw Collier in the Rocky Mnt Revue and he couldn't guard Najera. Jim Boylen had to take him out because he was getting killed. On offense he didn't do to well, he had a good hook shot once or twice. He might be able to be like a Greg Ostertag, but I think that he would be better than that because the Rocks have a good big man coach in Larry Smith. And how can you play with one of the greatest centers of all time and not learn something. I saw Dream teach the centers stuff during the shoot around so I think that Dream will try to help Collier. ------------------ www.Rockets2000.net [This message has been edited by FrancisFan (edited August 25, 2000).]

No one really knows about Collier. Anyway, the Rocks do not need Brad Miller and what would have to be a fairly long term contract. The Rocks do have at least two first round picks next year (that is, if the Bucks don't have a train wreck season). These two picks will go for front court players. Having Miller around will only complicate matters. Besides, any money the Rocks pay for Miller on a long term contract will be eating cap space and will indirectly limit how much the Rocks can offer MoTay after next season. The team is set, except that Drew and the trade exception still need to find a new home. ------------------
And Pig needs to make Houston his permanent home. Hakeem, Cato, and Los are all injury-prone and Collier apparently isn't ready, so we need that insurance big man. And Pig is a well-liked guy by the players. ------------------
A friend of mine spoke to Larry Smith just a couple of days ago. He said three things: 1. He thought we still had a shot at Mo Taylor. (Boy did we) 2. He said Langhi had been impressive. 3. He said that Collier had been dissappointing so far. Not exactly a "source" but it's a little tid bit. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
