What food/restaurants do you miss most when you're not in Houston/Texas?

    Pappy's on I-10. Their chicken fried steak is the first thing I eat each time I come back to town.

    Good Mexican food also.

    For the most part the Mexican food scene in Austin blows compared to Houston.

    Also, Whataburger, Lai Lai Dumpling House. and Pho Nguyen!!

    Tex Mex - Cal Mex is nothing compared to Tex Mex.
    Amazingly enough, even though it's a buffet place, I miss Ryan's Steakhouse.

    I am in Seattle for a few weeks. Happy to find decent burgers (Five Guys, Red Robins) but miss good affordable steaks, TexMex, BBQ, and chicken fried steaks. The good news is the seafood and produce is better.

    I seriously miss the variety and quality of Asian food. There are a couple of Chinatowns where I am but nothing at all like what Houston has. I miss quick and easy Vietnamese food, no Vietnamese at all here, sadly. I miss taquerias. There's plenty of high-end Mexican and some sloppy Tex-Mex but nothing simple and authentic. And Ethiopian.

    I would love a good sushi spot but I can't really say I miss that because I have looked high and low and have not found a sushi place in Houston I would return to.

    I know the quality has gone down over the years, but I miss skipping classes in high school and going to Chachos. That was a while ago.
