I think that the Rocket's are harder to predict or figure out than any other team in the West. Truthfully, they could have a losing record... they could also win 50 games. As Vince just posted, the Rockets could be considered in the elite.... but what if neither Hakeem nor Cato perform... what if Mo Taylor's rebounding and defense is as horrible as when he was a clipper. What if Francis still turns over the ball constantly? What if Shandon and Mobley get into a war over starting.

The Rockets are a young, exciting, and intriguing team right now. I can't ever remember so many question marks surrounding this team... but I don't think I've ever been quite so excited about their possibilities.

So... where do you all see us finishing in the West? Will be a step behind the Lakers, Spurs and Blazers... or is that 8th spot still a long shot? What do you all think the year depends on?

I think it could still go either way... but I can't wait to find out [IMG].

This is the best possible time to be a Rockets fan. The possibilities are endless.

I am excited. This realistically was the 2nd best option for the Rockets this whole off seasson.

Of course the other was the slim dream about getting Duncan.

Come on, It came down to either Taylor or Croshere. I think Taylor is pretty damb good!!!

Again, the possibilities for this team are enormous. The guns are cocked and the soldier are in place, it's time to march and let the battles decide the war.

    Rocks, a legit contender.

The Rockets will be a playoff team this year. There are two teams that I see dropping out of the playoffs in the West-- the Kings and the Sonics. I think that the Kong trade debacle has left Seattle a ruined team. The Rockets will fill one of these spots but, like you, I am not sure what their position will be. I'm leaning toward the 6th spot.

The rockets can beat any team in the league but they can lose to any team to.I would like to say we can contend for the 5 or 6 spot with Phoenix and Minnesota but it is still to early to tell. The most important thing is chemistry and if they can come out from the very begining of the season playing like a team there is no reason why we couldnt get 50 wins.I predict we will start out a little slow and come on strong right before the allstar break and us seattle, sacramento, and dallas will finish the season battling for the last two spots.

Whatever happens its going to be an exciting year!!!

Dogbelly, with the Kings I want to agree with you; but, the Jazz, nope, not till I see it.

The Jazz have supposedly had to stop competing in 1995. 5 years later they are still arguably the 4th best team in the West.

The Kings are tricky. They suck in the Regular season and squeeze into the playoffs. But in the playoffs they play the Lakers the best of almost every team!!!

Uhmmmmm!!! But, I hope your right. That gives the Rockets so much more buffer room.

The Kings have Webber, the Jazz have Malone. For all the decline of the Jazz, and for all the inconsistencies of the Kings, as long as they have their franchise players, I think they'll be alright. I know that Seattle has Payton, and I don't think that post players are necessarily more valuable than PG's... but it seems that teams with only *one* true talent seem to benefit most if it's a C or PF.... although I couldn't exactly explain why... any ideas?
