never implied that. just wanted to point out that there was a significant improvement. also, I'm not claiming that Lin is the sole reason for his improvement.
no, he got more minutes because Melo was out. How can this be about Lin. Don't get it. There is NO improvement as you suggest, beyond getting more minutes because he understands his role on defense more now. He has always been a great 3 pt shooter. The 48% vs 43% is not an "improvement." He hit 5-8 last night...that's effecting your small sample. The points per game "improvement" is based on more minutes...which has absolutely nothing to do with Lin. Unbelievable you'd try to make this about Lin.
I simply stated that "there MIGHT be something to this." I never said Lin was the sole reason for his improvement, I simply posted the numbers.
wansn't lin the one feeding him the ball? before Novak went on a tear no one else was feeding him. need the stat of him made 3's who passed it to him
That's passive aggressive isn't it? Just because your suggestion is highly questionable and people are telling you why, doesn't mean we are bent out of shape. Novak started getting minutes the *very same game* Melo got injured. They play the same position. And this is because of Lin how exactly? Now he's keeping his minutes, because he is finally devoted to defense.
I remember couple years back Novak with the Clippers entered a game. There was instant DECONSTRUCTION of the ENTIRE Clippers defense just having Novak on the floor. That was THE DEFINITION of "liability" on defense. He disrupted the ENTIRE team, all their ROTATIONS, the help defense, the perimeter D, the interior, he was putting his bigs in FOUL trouble having to make up for him. He HIMSELF was getting abused and getting in foul trouble. And this was an ALREADY BAD defense. I'd never seen anything like it The team gave up points or fouled on 8 of 9 possession, to get Novak's "shooting" into the game. Its actually pretty remarkable to see Novak's improvement to be reliable enough now.
There was some article or video on youtube of Lin and Novak playing in the D league last year together. And both of them lighting it up. Before Linsanity Lin and Novak part of the 2nd squad in scrimmage and briefly in the D League together had a feel of how each other plays. And Lin just making a effort to feed Novak as much as possible and use the 3 point speacialist. And yes Novak is playing better D. It just naturally when you getting fed and making your 3's you are going to be even more perked up on D.
You realize you did just say that Lin (a PG) had to learn to get a "feel for how" Novak plays? The dude parks himself on the 3 pt line and waits for a pass. Maybe Novak had to teach Lin how to find the 3pt specialist parked on the line. Man, you are really reaching. This is silly logic. Maybe Novak got "perked up on D" because Melo got injured and D'Antoni said your time as arrived for getting more minute if you devote yourself to D. Okam's Razor dictates Novak perked himself up because of Melo's injury gave him his shot at extended minutes...and the improved D has absolutely nothing to do with Lin
Like I said before, his offense has not changed at all. The change has been on defense which allows him to get more playing time.
I would love to see New York try to give him a 20 shots of 3s in one of their game to see how he does. I mean I would take a guy shooting 0.430 of 3s than guys shooting 0.450 of 2s.
Ryan Anderson broke out earlier this year so Steve Novak could breakout to become a poor man's Ryan Anderson
that hasn't changed. The Rockets drafted him; we are all quite familiar with he ridiculous 3pt shooting. It has nothing to do with Lin. He shot 57% last year from 3. He shot 48% one season playing with the Rockets. Can't we just acknowledge how ridiculous he is now that he's proving he can do it even at significant minutes, without trying to say Lin is the reason for this.
