Your #3 reasons may be right. But "Chan" is most likely Cantonese. I bet he or his parents are from Hong Kong. And I don't think he knows much about baseball, or any other sport, for that matter (see my earlier post).

As most guys know, there are mainly two kinds of people in Taiwan, one would rather be Taiwanese or even Japanese instead of Chinese, while the other still call them Chinese. And the former one HATE everything from mainland China. It is very interesing to see the existence of such ignorant.

it's amazing a person that dumb actually exists. also responding to netsfan2002's assumption. there is almost a 100% chance that this guy comes from a cantonese family. only people who have lived in hong kong go by the last name of chan. mainland chinese people go by the last name of chen. but if they moved to hong kong, they also have to change their name to chan. but most people with the name chan are originally born in hong kong and since Hong Kong was once a british colony. it's not surprising that this guy talks the way he talks. some of these people don't even consider themselves asian and often consider themselves citizens of britain. also cantonese people are known for being prejudiced against mainland chinese. But this of course does not apply to all people. i can't believe somebody this dumb actually got accepted into a university.

It seems like there is a lot of dislike towards Taiwanese people in here. Calling them silly and ignorant? Whats' up with that? This guy doesn't speak for everybody in his homeland.

Grow up people, you don't demonstrate this guy is wrong by calling him a silly Taiwanese person.

    Me!
Actually, I am wondering whether we can sue him if he is in US. Is racism like this permitted here?

Um. . . some of the things you say about Hong Kong people are pretty prejudiced too. I guess the more we talk about "people in general" the easier we become prejudiced--using a part to cover the whole.

BTW, I've seen people from Taiwan named "Chan" and people from Hong Kong named "Chen," although they are quite rare.

I'm just so sad that a tree had to die to produce the paper that this 'article' was printed on...

...That a computer disk may have been spoiled by this 'article'...

...That I wasted a few brain cells reading this tripe...

    How sad. :(

Well the point is it has nothing to do with him being from Taiwan. You sound like a guy saying "I have a lot of black friends" to prove he isn't racist.

easy, did you read the part where i said it didn't apply to all cantonese? don't a$$ume . cantonese for the most part are prejudiced against mainland people based on my experiences at least. but i didn't say all of them were. that's not stereotyping.

I am really sorry for what I have said.
Yeah, I was silly in responding that Chan's article.
Let's come back to basketball anyway

I said he came from taiwan mainly because of his attitude towards Japanese and that unforgetable war between China and Japan?

Sue him for what? We dont throw people in prison in this country for thinking a certain way. at least i hope not.

the guy has a right to be stupid. and one even has the right to be even less intelligent by actually being offended by such nonsense.

    "see-through black tank top?"

    "a Chippendale’s minstrel show?"

    Baseball "is American cricket ?"

"Chinese men are now both emasculated and physically brutal?"

The writer is gay but just doesn't recognize it yet.

(quoting George and Jerry, "Not that there's anything wrong with that.")

Yeppers. Its called freedom of speech. This is also the country that has a 100 year senator that still believes in segregation. This is what makes this country great. You can say and believe every you want even if it is boneheaded. Well at least before 9/11 now you can say what ever you want as long as you don't look middle eastern.

That article is absolutely ridiculous. I will grant him that the NBA is having a bit of an image problem as of late due to things like the arrest of Rasheed Wallace and Damon Stoudamire, the arrest of Ruben Patterson, the offseason arrest of Allen Iverson, etc etc, but on a whole, the NBA and all professional sports have always been about taking the abilities and talents you are born with to the highest possible level to become the best athlete/person you can be. If Yao Ming, a humble man who strives to be the absolute best in his profession, isn't a good role model for young asians (and children of all races) I'd really like to know who is.

The pig's name is Jackie Chan. He is too fat even can not stand up. His owner have to starve him for three days in order to make him a little slim.
