Why not just take Derrick Willaims and Beasley if all it takes is Martin? Why would we want David Lee with that ridiculous contract?
It's hard for me to see Minny trading both Williams and Beasley. The two are sort of a redundancy on the same team, but I think they'd like to keep one of them. Then again, stupider moves have been made.
I have two trade ideas: Rockets trade T-Will, Flynn, and Thabeet to Bobcats for Corey Maggette OR Rockets trade T-Will, Flynn, and Thabeet to Bucks for Stephen Jackson
Wouldn't mind that, but salaries would have to match. Also... both would be risky moves as they would constrict any 2012 plans. But... both moves would help us in the 'win now', playoff push department.
So you trade three players (none of them are in the rotation) for a (starting) SF/SG (Maggette or Jackson), when you already have Parsons/Bud/Morris at SF and Martin/Lee/Dragic at SG. How do you see the rotation, if you add Jackson or Maggette? I like one of those trade proposals if you can package Bud/Martin/Scola for an 'All Star' caliber big guy like Al Jefferson or Pau Gasol.
Houston trade - Thabeet, Flynn, JHill, 2nd rd pick Houston in - Kaman New Orleans trade - Kaman New Orleans in - Thabeet, Flynn, JHill, 2nd rd pick Houston trade - Twill, Bud, Morris or Patterson Houston in - Ariza New Orleans trade - Ariza New Orleans in - Twill, Bud, Morris or Patterson C - Dalembert / Kaman / Smith PF - Scola / Patterson or Morris SF - Parsons / Ariza SG - Kmart / Lee PG - Lowry / Dragic Houston gets a good back-up center in Kaman, and a sf that can score and defend in Ariza New Orleans they get young players, our team absorb the salary of Ariza
Why is Lee's contract ridiculous? It's not like he's being paid max money. He's a pretty underrated player, and an underrated defender, around this parts. But I digress. I do think Derrick Williams can be had for Martin. Especially if you add Budinger to the deal. Martin + Budinger for Derrick Williams + expirings seems doable to me. It could be enough to push Minny over the top and make them a contender. And Rick the Ruler loves him some Martin/Budinger. Why would I not want Williams? I'm not as sold on him as I bet other teams would be. I think he's a good piece to send to a 3rd team though.
Clippers in-K.Mart Lakers in-L.Scola,M.Williams Clips 1st pick Rockets in-P.Gasol,R.Foye on we do that trade we can make a move for kamen Rockets in-C.Kaman Hornets in-C.Budinger,T.Williams,J.Flynn, J.Hill, H.Thabeet and Knicks 1st pick after that we should make a move for a good SF Rockets in-G.Wallace Blazers in-P.Patterson,G.Dragic, M.Morris and Rockets 2013 1st pick Rockets Roster K.Lowry/R.Foye C.Lee/R.Foye G.Wallace/C.Parsons P.Gasol/C.Parsons/G.Wallace/C.Kaman S.Dalambert/C.Kaman Thats a tough, all hustle 8 man lineup that would win. Lol im bored a'f.
Ohh and in the offseason we resign kaman to a cheaper contract, resign lee and bring over Llull/Motiejunas 2012/2013 season- Lowry/Lull Lee/Foye Wallace/Parsons Gasol/Motiejunas Dalambert/Kaman
Okay, here's a new thought. Not going to give up Lowry for just Gasol, but what if we can engineer a 3-team deal to get more out of it? What LA gets out of it: An all-star caliber PG in Lowry, a guy showing signs of all-star potential in Pekovic, a solid starter to replace Gasol with Scola, and a decent bench SF to shore up their crap SF production. This really allows them to build their team around Kobe while he's still good, and gives them some younger less expensive guys as well. What Minny gets out of it: An all-star center in Bynum, proven shooting guard their coach loves in Martin, and roleplayer off the bench in Budinger who is also an Adelman protege. Basically they get to consolidate assets for a playoff run, as any team in their situation looks to do. What Boston gets out of it: They're looking to get rid of Rondo who they don't feel fits well with their big three. They want to upgrade their production at the 5 for one more playoff run--Dalembert helps there and Barea will play better with their guys--and they want to get the rebuilding process started--Derrick Williams helps out in that direction, and we can throw in the NY Knicks pick if necessary to get the deal done. Basically they get deeper and kickstart the impending rebuild. What NO gets out of it: Ain't going to get much more for Kaman, Stern... sorry. At least you can roll the dice with Hill and Williams who both still have potential. Maybe the Rockets will throw in a second round pick if they're feeling generous. Final Rockets roster: Rondo/Dragic Lee/Dragic Parsons/Morris Gasol/Patterson Kaman/Patterson
So you think the Lakers would blow up their front line advantage for a deal that brought them Scola, Lowry, Pekovic, and Beasley? They won't even trade Bynum and Gasol for Dwight, but you think they would do it for those 4 players? Kupchak would be outright offended by such a proposal.
Don't underestimate Pek's value. He's playing very close to Bynum's level as a starter, is healthier, and cheaper. The downside is of course that he hasn't proven himself to the same extent Bynum has. Lowry is more valuable than Gasol straight-up. Scola and Beasley both also have value. I think it balances out. Maybe LAL can fill the gaping holes on their roster and get an all-star caliber player for just Gasol, but I very much doubt it.
I don't know how anyone could think Lowry is more valuable than Gasol. The only advantage Lowry has is his contract. Pau is the superior player. Also, Scola probably doesn't have as much value as you think, and Beasley is just a nice expiring contract.
Lowry is six years younger and he costs 1/3 as much while being only slightly less valuable as a player. Beasley's an RFA with some potential and can help them out this year. You're right Scola and Beasley don't have a ton of value, but when you factor in contract situations I think Lowry + Pekovic are pretty close to Gasol + Bynum in value.
Lowry and Beasley are nice players, but I was just saying that right now, Pau is superior to them. But the bolded part would be a dream scenario. If the Rockets could land Pekovic while keeping Lowry, our future would be very bright.
Would y'all consider trading for Andray Blatche? Wizards are trying to get rid of him. Flynn, J-Hill, and T-Will for Blatche? Dalembert/Blatche/Thabeet Scola/Patterson/Smith Parsons/Bud/Morris Martin/Lee Lowry/Dragic Sign a guard from the D-League like Blake Ahearn who is averaging 24pts and 6ast per game. Or maybe Manny Harris or Morris Almond.
Andray Blatche Fool!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!.... obviously you haven't been following the NBA that long. He's probably the worst player in the NBA. Not talent wise, but just overall what he does to your team in a negative manner. NO Andray Blatche.
