How about Drew and Carlos for the Lakers first round pick. Its not that bad of a trade because the Lakers pick will proably
    be pick #29.

    LilFrancis,

Drew or Rogers alone for the Lakers pick would be an incredible steal for the Lakers. Don't sell these guys short even though they won't receive much playing time here. You can get MUCH better than that.

Lil Francis: the Lakers first round pick will result in less of a player than Rogers OR Drew.

With Taylor on board, this team is a near certain playoff team, imo. Rogers adds nice depth.

I'd take Mobley, Harrington, or Langhi over both of those guys. 3 of our recent 2nd-round picks.

Harrington over Rogers? i sure wouldn't. Langhi over Rogers? Maybe, but there's no way of knowing yet.

You can't expect lightning to keep on striking in the same place. Granted our coaching staff has done a good job in the 2nd round, but I doubt they're *that* much better than the others... I just believe in playing the odds here.

My guess is Rodgers will move down a spot on the bench and will have to earn his minutes cause we now have some depth at the undersized power forward position and the oversized too slow small forward position.

It's difficult for me to assess whether Rogers would have trade value or not. He is on the one hand a really talented player with a wide range of skills and a reasonable contract, but he is a little bit of a tweener and he is injured far too often to be reliable.

I kind of doubt that the Rockets would be able go get the value of his cheerleading from the bench and exciting play (when healthy) back in trade. I would probably keep him around for the two remaining years on his contract to serve as a high quality practice player, cheerleader, and intermitant player when the inevitable injuries occur to the main rotation players, and amicably part at the end of his contract.

get rid of Kenny Thomas and let Pig go and we have a really good team! Los is our backup! An I suppose we could keep Pig on the IR!

Next years draft is so deep that we mught get a real good player with the 29th pick.
Who knows George Williams or Alton Ford might
come out early and be on the board when we pick.

I want to see how Ford fares against some college competition. From what I remember in the McDonald's High School All-Star game(yes, I know it's an ugly game of "let me hog the ball") he didn't do too well. I think he's got at least 2 years of college ball before he should even consider declaring for the draft.

I don't know anything about Williams, so I won't comment on him.

I agree with Miggidy Markell, and Carlos Rogers does play defense and hustles a hell of alot more than Thomas.

This deal is completely unworkable on the cap. Its great saying lets deal Rogers and Drew but those two together account for around 5 mil in salary. You cant just deal 5 mil worth of players for a pick when the other team is capped out.

All the players the Lakers have in that salary range have extremely bloated long term contracts which make no sense for the Rockets. The Rockets need to trade down in salary not pick up more long term contracts. The smart move would be to move Bryce Drew to some team with cap room that can absorb his salary or just decline his option and let him become a FA in 2001.
