He's in this weeks issue with Shania Twain on the cover. It's not much of an article...only one page long filled mostly with stuff we've all read before. There is a nice picture, looks like it was taken in his yard or neighborhood. There's a lake and houses behind him. Also, his parents are in the picture standing in the background.
It's probably not worth buying the issue just for the Yao article. I'd suggest just reading it while you stand in the grocery line.
Really? I read on another thread that he's gonna be on Late Night soon, with Julia Roberts. Man...I gotta stop believing everything I read in the BBS. Is it true we're gonna get Kevin Garnett for Hawkins, Maddox, Collier, and Clutch ??!! My little cousin would hate Garnett if Clutch had to be packaged
Most of the time appearances on Letterman are centered around when a team plays in the New York area. Having said that, looking at Rockets schedule vs the Knicks and Nets I don't see when he would have time to appear with travel and back to back mixed in. Most of the time Letterman is taped around 5pm eastern if I remember correctly.
Oh, man! I've read some of your posts and it almost makes me feel you are Colin Pine!!! Are you sure he will be on Letterman next Month?
No I am not Colin just a real big fan. Letterman asked Yao to be on his show in November but Team Yao pushed it back to January or February depending on if everything runs smoothly and no surprises pop up then you should see him on it in Jan or Feb. One more tidbit he may also be on the Today show sometime in the coming months.
Scared to ask but I got to...WHY??? Certainly, Yao doesn't yearn for the limelight but he's not uncomfortable with it either. He's already been throwing out one-liners to the media, why not throw them out with one of the best.
First of all, I'll just say Yao's English is amazing. But he's only been in the country for couple of weeks. To throw one liners at the media is different to talk to a talk show host (y'all know how Letterman talks) is very different. I'm not saying he'll do bad in his interview but in his mind he's definitely not as comfortable as if it's in Chinese. Rox management won't let TV exposure get through their grip though. So I think it's more the team's choice than his choice.
I'm waiting for Yao to be invited on the Best Damn Sports Show... ...so he can face John Salley. "Bash Yao now, I dare ya!"
