Have any of you seen the previews for this show (I'm guessing if you watched any football on Fox yesterday, then the answer is yes). The premise is they get these single money whores who want to compete to marry this dude who's worth $50 million. The only thing is, that's only what they think. He actually makes $19K a year. I've never been excited about a reality television show before BB3, but I'm pumped about this one.
Another quality show. Pathetic. I may check in for the last show to see the stupid chick's face when she finds out he's not rich. The CBS Monday night lineup is the best. That new show "Still Standing" is great.
Yeah, I doubt I would be able to stand this show for most of the season, but I can guarantee you I will be watching for that final episode.
Network TV blows. As long as I have ESPN News all is fine in my life. Can you call a brother back every once in a while??
I hear they're already at work on a follow-up show -- "FOX Gets Sued by Angry Women." Should be good.
a) is this show morally bankrupt? yes. b) is this show brilliant? yes. like you, RM, I was finding myself strangely excited by the prospect of this new show. just when reality was beginning to get tiresome. . . of course, when you throw in Fox's little, white lie, it starts to blur the lines between fiction and reality. but I'm probably still going to watch. and I never watch non-sports programming. . . . oh yeah, this is kind of a nice about-face for Fox. after all the heat they caught for the whole Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? deal, I can just see them sitting back in their development rooms: "So they don't like to see money-grubbing hoes? Well, maybe they'll like money-grubbing hoes exposed as money-grubbing hoes!" question: can this show possibly have a happy ending? another question: what might this do to this guy's esteem when he finds out that, no, none of these chicks actually love him for who he really is? last question: would it be possible for any of these ladies, after finding out that they've been so horribly, cruelly deceived, to still actually love this guy who has willingly participated in the deception?
I hate reality TV, but this has potential to at least get me to watch one episode (my head still hurts from watching Survivor once). The gals end up looking like shallow moneygrubbing whores. The guy gets to live in a castle in Europe and screw around with a bunch of hotties, but probably gets dumped big time in the end and is probably exposed as a loser. Fox probably gets sued. If we are going to have reality TV, why cant we just fast forward 10 years to The Running Man and start hunting down child molesters on national TV? Its only a matter of time.
What to think about Fox? They somehow mix together the absurdly stupid with brilliant programming like 24, Simpsons, KoTH, Malcolm and Firefly. But then again, they did cancel Family Guy..Talk about a love/hate relationship. That said, I find it amusing that gold diggers will be exposed for what they really are. I wonder how the guy can keep a straight face while deliberately decieving the gold-diggers? I think Mrs JB has it right, there are gonna be some PISSED women after this one is over.
with all the football i've watched, FOX's subtle hidden messages in the "Joe Millionaire" commercials have succeeded on my feeble mind. i actually found myself saying "i think i'll watch that when it comes on TV" shudder the thought. I'm the same guy that has bashed all reality shows to everyone I know, even my old standby of "The Real World"... I mean come on, how many times can MTV use the "Is Trishelle pregnant" teaser before actually addressing the issue?
It'd be good if he ended up to be average looking as well. I can't wait to hear the "I don't love you for the money, etc."
Let's have some fun with this and come up with "REJECTED NAMES" for the show. Like: "Gold Digging Skanks Exposed"
I have heard good things about that show, too bad Monday Night is football. This Joe Millionaire show looks pretty sweet. It will have some great ratings to start and then bottom out fast after they let these gold diggers know he is poor.
I bet they double cross the guy in the second series. The guy gets to choose between Doctors lawyers bankers etc. what do you bet that they eventually get the guy back and tell him aww they are actually just poor students or other economically challenged people. CK
Too funny. He is a good looking guy. but if he has to lie over an extended period of time there's no way this relationship could work out. This should be pretty funny. But seriously. There will be a lot of emotions running high at the end. Some of thse women will think they were about to win the lottery, only to have it snatched away, and they are going to be fuming. Even if they signed a contact not to sue. The emotions will be running high and they will probably want to smack someone around.
Last time I check no one force these women to make fools of themselves. They get what they deserve in some cases.
You know, I'd probably agree with you in any other circumstances, but I think this is one that's best watched from the beginning because you can laugh all the way through. I may have to make some time to watch this. I don't watch any of the other garbage reality shows, but this one could be worth it.
