I came across this Junior Parker cover and thought it was unreal: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/byjPd28KegM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If we include John Lennon, then this is by far the best: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LNpWODELq4M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I actually remember some celebrity-filled cover from the early early nineties that I really liked with either a ukelele or just a high chord, I think even Sean or Julian might have been on it. Not that this is fair, but for some reason this version reminds me of that god-awful Kid Rock country song where he mashes up Sweet Home Alabama and Warren Zevon; just give the IP lawyers a soundmixer already. Sad that Van Winkle indirectly screwed him out of a rap career, but god what a cipher.
I'm pretty ashamed to admit that my first exposure to Yesterday was via En Vogue. But black teenagers didn't have a choice back then, it was such a vaccuum of clothes, slang, TV shows and music that we really couldn't ignore; especially after a decade of Billy Ocean and Club Nouveau.

Put that thing on a commercial and it goes double platinum. A lot like "Hard to Handle" that just goes to show how versatile a good melody is.

For some reason I'm imagining Robert Culp getting out of a wood-paneled station wagon to walk into an office building.
^I'd watch that... I think you're describing an actual scene. Obviously it's going to be tough to top the OP's.
Well, I'd go with... Obligatory <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZBR0T3f7tUw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> One thing about great covers is that they are completely different from the original. That to me makes a great cover, like the one above. Nothing at all like the original in any way, shape or form except for the lyrics:grin:
The ABBEY ROAD one is the best. It's recognized everywhere as "The Beatles" best album cover. ohhh... you meant... song... covers... never mind, then.
That will always be awesome, on many levels. Maybe so, but this is still good too... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/c8DaqgMPrmQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'll see your Eddie Vedder and raise you: Waylon! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hRD6VwOTGuw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Got to go with my man Al Green, can't get any smoother than that. Almost everyone sounds better than the Beatles when they cover their songs. I'm a big fan of the Fab Four but their vocals were never on par with their musical talents and song writings.

That's probably my favorite. The Mad Dogs and Englishmen concert in the Music Hall was fantastic. One of my favorite cats, Leon Russell, was playing with Cocker, of course. What a night!
