http://www.nba.com/reportcard/midseason/2012/rockets/ I'd have to say its pretty fair. My only gripe would have to be what they rated the defense.
A for the backcourt? With Kmart's disappearing acts? And Lowry too, for that matter? Not so sure about that...
Good point. Perhaps the fact that the team leader, Lowry, is such a defensive force at times gives a false sense that the team defense is better than it really is. By no means do I think they're great, but I do tend to think of them as above average.
Of all the Rockets lineups this year that have played 20 minutes or more, the only sub-par defensive lineups are those with KMart and Bud on the floor at the same time. You aren't being deceived into thinking we are an above average defensive team, we actually are when McHale isn't forced to use that combo. http://basketballvalue.com/teamunits.php?year=2011-2012&team=HOU
C on defense is right. Thats only because somehow Dalembert has fallen off in his past few weeks. Hill is regressing and has no power to compete with most big men who back him down, Martin has never had defense, Greg Smith was in the D league, Patterson was injured early, the lineups are not finalized for rotation minutes. Thats too many things to be consistant on defense. On top of that I think a major change is coming during the deadline that will shake up the roster minutes again.
Bulls should be considered A+ considering their injuries.... Im ok with the Rockets analysis, although it gives the impression that we are a certified home-court advantage seeking playoff team....
I know that it's a schocker since it's defensive oriented league, but kmart, prior to this season, has been regarded as a talented scorer. So the praise for the back court doesn't surprise me at all. What does...the Cavaliers receiving a B-. Must have been a computer error.
Yeah A might be extreme BUT when they are on, it is one of the better backcourts in the game. And more often than not, they are on. I think B+ or A- would be more fair.
I think thats right. An A for the whole unit. Lowry Lee Dragic Martin is about as good as it gets all together.
I see two lineups (Patterson at center, Martin as SF) that don't have that combo with below par defenses with over 20 minutes. Also, a ton of the units of less than 20 mins are below average.
All seems generous to me... only 7 teams ranked higher... Our defense is obviously our weakness - anyone that questions that, needs to rewatch the last Minnesota game. We constantly get abused in the paint.
