It CAN be the LITTLE things that influence opinions. As a kid WAY long ago, I was a hardcore Aggie fan. Then, as a kid , I actually visited the campus...On the lawn at a particular building, they said to me and my fam - THEM: "Stay off the grass". Me: Why? THEM: Tradition. Memorial lawn Me: [to myself] I'm a freaking KID, where can I play frisbee? Dent in Aggie support, suspicions raised on other things too ...but nothing a few Aggie jokes couldnt mend. I was naive a long time after that about college life. Figured maybe other campuses were like that :grin: Maybe there are, I've only been to a less than a handful but found the experiences more "permissive" in the other places.
FWIW, the A&M AD is strongly considering putting the A&M dance team on the sidelines to coincide with the move to the SEC. I believe it is going to happen. As with most Aggies, I am strongly in support of this, and I think it is long overdue. Just because it's a tradition doesn't mean it has to stay that way.
No reason . . they could not have both Hell . . just call the males Yell Leaders and the Females CheerLeaders or would that be too .. uhm . . dunno unfair because even though neither gets paid and they do the same thing . .. some will just want THE TITLE because. . .well . .they want it Rocket River
I think that is exactly what they are going for actually (though a female could still get elected as a yell leader). They are definitely keeping the Yell Leaders ... That is a tradition that is not going to go away. However, they will add the all Female Dance team to the sidelines (they wont be called cheerleaders just because they are more the NBA dance team style rather than prototypical CFB cheerleaders)
If you want to remove the traditions of the school that refused to continue the rivalry, where are you going to put Bevo?
I appreciate Texas A&M's traditions, but the Yell Leaders and anything Corp related grinds my gears. However, I did hear this girl speak on 790, and somehow she is even more annoying than the Corp drones.

Yes, I did go to A&M for 3 semesters. And I left because there's absolutely nothing for a person who enjoys variety in life to do. The attitudes there are also...well I won't get into that. I'm sure there are people there that share my outlook on life etc, but there just weren't enough hours in the day because of school to seek people out. They're few and far in between so I left
