Will watch. The dialogue in this movie will keep me hip for at least another decade. Plus, Lin is in it.
There's a lot of internet buzz on this for sure. I think this movie should have been make like 6 years ago when dance games were still relevant, but it still looks funny. Did you guys recognize James Remar from "The Warriors" doing the narration for the trailer? Some of my favorite quotes on the movie from Filmdrunk: Alamo Drafthouse started their own distribution company and this is the first movie they bought. It seems their goal is to put out ready made cult films.
I saw this during SXSW film last year. The premise is great, but the schtick gets old quick. It's felt as though the filmmakers were so enamored with their concept's apparent cleverness, the characters might as well be winking at the camera after delivering nearly every line. Another problem...the dialogue wasn't able to follow up on the promise of the idea. It was previewed as a midnighter to a sold out crowd at the Alamo Ritz's small theater. The time, and the fact that I'd already seen five other movies that day may have had something to do with it...but I fell asleep more than once during the screening.
I think Grandma's Boy DDR scene is probably better <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/T2ICTbPfrZ0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
