All I can say is Rudy is a heck of lucky coach. First he had Dream, Glide and Barkley. Then here comes Pippen, Francis, Mobley and now Yao Ming. All impact players at his disposal. There is also series of injuries that clouded judgement on him. He's quite a lucky coach considering the circumstances. Keep or fire, it all depends on the new system he's implementing.
Yes, the one thing that I hate is a revolving door with coaches. Utah and Houston have the bank on this one.
U forget to mention that he had all these times when the rox looked like the CAvs,,, u had the time when pip was blasting other players.. dream was asking for trades...and now u have fans dissing Steve for not passing to Yao.
balck widow....u been watchin the rocks this year? Dang.....Rudy does not deserve coach of the year at all........not even close....Isaiah or Donnie are my coaches of the year in both divisions.....I didnt even have to think bout that. Rudy cannot handle the egos on this team and he knows it....thas the reason why the Rocks break off plays all the time. Rudy is also the WORST at drawin up last second shot plays......GOD....wheneva we have the last shot in a game u can bet its gonna be someone dribbkin at the top of the key and jackin up a shot while bein double-teamed......If Rudy cant even control his players how is he gonna win coach of the year? Dont see it happenin
I guess this is just where we have to disagree. IMO, height and being able to block shots does not make you a great defender. Also, one thing you have to keep in mind with regards to KT, is that he has VERY long arms for his height, so despite him being an inch or two shorter than the man he is guarding, he still plays like a 6'9'' guy. To me, his lack of height as never been a detriment with regards to guarding other 4s. With the game on the line, EG can indeed block a shot. I agree. But if he doesnt, there is a good chance he can a) Get pushed around to where his man has a higher % shot than he should have b) Allow his man an uncontested dunk or layup because EG is always too over anxious to try and get the weakside block (Ive seen this several times this year) or c) Fail to hold his position off of a missed shot and give up an offensive board (Ive also seen this several times this year). Im just dont understand how you can say EG trys harder to rebound than KT. I feel very strongly about the following statement: There may be only 1 or 2 other plays on this team, IF ANY, that try harder than KT does (in fact, KT tried too hard to make things happen ....thats why people love to hate him ...hes a playmaker!) and EG is definately not one of them. EG is the one who's body language sometimes says "Take me out coach". Overall, as I said in my previous post. KT is a better offensive player than EG, KT is the overall better defender (shotblocking notwithstanding) and KT is the better playmaker (passer and assist man). At the end of the game, I want KT on the other team's 4. At least then I know that we wont be giving up any cheap buckets to them like we do often with EG.
Well well I guess you are eating a bit of crow now ....I think you should jump on the wagon about now or keep your frigging mouth shut about 1 of the best coach in the NBA ....
contrary to all that, he has got a winning team, 4th place in the western conference ,, so u gots to give him props
ok but just take last nights game, when he tried to go for the steal, but instead gave away the dunk to derric coleman. so i mean they both have their weaknesses, and i wouldnt mind having 2 players able to hit the outside J(EG and rice) out there. and u do know KT has the name "blck hole" given to him for a reason.,.. i am noy hatin on him,. he used to be my favotie rox player as a rook. but i would rather let EG be in there when the game is on the line
AMS, I remember the play you are talking about. Those things happen to everyone on our team, not just KT. EG has given up plays like that numerous times this year, alot more than KT has. I also remember KT limiting the second best offensive player on their team to 6-15 shooting and making him work. EG also had a good game last night. KT has just been more consistent than EG has been on both ends of the floor and thats why he is starting now and EG isnt. Also, KT is a better shooter than EG is. Im not sure why you feel KT cant hit the J. Early in the season, KT has struggled with his jumper, but in seasons past, it has been very reliable. KT seemed to have rediscovered his jumper last night which made me very happy. Just look at EGs FG and 3P %s. Youll see that not only is EG not a better shooter than KT is, hes a poor shooter overall. Last, I know black hole has become KT's nickname. I feel its very undeserved. KT averages less than 10 shots a game and averages more assists per 48 mins with the exception of the three main ballhandlers on our team (Moo, Steve and Mobes). EG is the real blackhole. Last nights game notwithstanding, EG just doesnt pass the ball. As said before, once KT starts hitting his jumper more consistently, like he did last night, youll see him take less drives and not force things as much. I predict that by the end of the season, as long as KT keeps up the good play, hell once again become a fan favorite around here.
anyone that gets in their groove can start hitting their shots,, thas Y they are NBA players,,, and EG is barley getting time out there so you cant expect him to pass it off when he gets the ball, in 16 minutes i would rather take a shot prove myself, rather than pass it to KT, or anyone else who already are doing fine the way it is.... and if u getting all technical, i think EG has less TO's than anyone in the starting lineup, or any other player out there
EG is not getting time because he wasnt playing fundamentally sound D and was shooting 35%. In fact, he wasnt really even blocking as many shots as he should have. I dont blame Rudy for yanking him. I fully expect EG to pass the ball when hes not hitting his shots and others are open, no matter if hes playing 16 mins or 48 mins. Its not about proving himself. We know what he can do. Its about being a complete player and a team player. KT is the more complete player, by far right now. TOs usually come from bad passing. You arent going to have alot of TOs if you dont pass the ball very much. Plus, out of everyone in the starting 5 (when EG was starting), EG, by far, has less touches so he should average less TOs than anyone else.
dude KT is a 3 yr. vet, and prolly 5 years older than him, he should have a more complete game.... Eg does need to develop a better game, but isnt PT wat gets u experiance
And when EG is 5 years older, I would expect him to be better than KT. Thats why we spent three draft picks on him. Im talking now. Yes he does need to develop a better game and that PT will indeed help. But Im not for giving him these minutes you talk of at the expense of winning. EG will just have to take advantage of the mins he does get. The cream always rises to the top. If EG is better than KT, then one day, he will be back in the starting lineup and KT will be on the bench.
i dont really care if hes starting or not, wat i do care about is that people who hate on him, without giving him the chance to do so...and speaking of taking advantage of the minutes given, i believe he is doing a fine job, like shooting that clutch 3, and blocking a shot to preserve the win, i think against the spurs
For the record, Im a big EG guy. So i hope you dont think im hating on him. Ive defended the guy, along with many others by saying hes only 20, and hes till somewhat growing into his body. I just think at this time, KT is the better all around player in almost every facet. Rudy is smart. In time, if EG becomes a superior option to KT, or if KT gets moved back to the 3, then EG will have his time. Its just not right now. The things you mentioned about shooting the clutch 3 and blocking shots are few and far between. EG has not been the shot blocker many people though he would be and his 3p% is not very good overall. That could very well change though. I hope so. If KT is gone after this season, then EG will have a great opportunity to show what kind of player he can be with the increases minutes.
Panda, Rudy is the reason that I joined BBS. I had grown frustrated with the use of the left side of the floor only. Frustrated with the Maloney, Price and Drew PGs. Frustrated with not drafting Lewis. Frustrated with 3 Top 50 Players and no Championship. Frustrated with Rudy repeating the 3 Top 50 trick. Frustrated with Rudy not putting Rhodes on MJ. Frustrated with isos. Frustrated with not keeping Richard Jefferson. Frustrated with drafting Boki and not playing him. Frustrated that Rudy can't be a smarter guy. Frustrated that he can't pass some basketball IQ to his players. Frustrated that he doesn't take blame for the Punch! Frustrated that the Houston media gives him a pass for the lack of productivity. Frustrated that the Rox are blown out by Kings team with 8 players! Frustrated that he put a knife in Chaney's back. Keep or Fire? Fire if Rudy doesn't make Playoffs with his Deepest team ever. Rudy is about to lie on SportsCenter as I write this missive.
u should also be happy with all the things he has acomplished (in no particular order) 1. drafting Yao ming 2. pulling off a nice trade to draft EG 3. pulling off a great trade to get Francis 4. drafting Mobley 5. signing MOT as a free agent. 6. Getting rid of Scottie Pip, for 6 role players( hey the Wizard was pretty good) 7. Getting 3 of the top 50 together 8. see above. 9. almost getting to the playoffs, but instead sitting out wiht the best record for a non playoff team 10. being only the 2nd team to go a whole season without losing to the central division, and then going 25-5( corrections) against the whole eastern conference....
Widow, I agree that Dream is the Best All-Around Center Ever! Jefferson will become a All-Star before Griffin. Ming was a no-brainer after seeing him in Indy this Summer. Pip played for Phil and Rudy, he thought Rudy was lost and said so. He has 6 rings. He was run out of town for wanting to win. How silly! SF and CM are two of the lowest Bball IQ players that I've ever seen. Their coach knows even less. Wish I could get Rudy's fans to agree that he should be fired if this team doesn't make the playoffs.
