Rest in peace, John. That's the least I could wish for one of the great visionaries of our time. Rest in peace.
Although I never ever want to hear 'Imagine' again, the Beatles are the closest thing I have to a religion, so... RIP John.
I bought a poster my senior year showing a John Lennon memorial with the words "Imagine" across it.. (his grave, maybe?). I took it down because it made my roommate and I sad. RIP... the best Beatle died that day.
I never understood John Lennon and I can't stand the 60's/70's hippies. But as a part of the Beattles he was a genius and the good always die young. RIP.
I have a lot of Cartman in me when it comes to hippies. Self-indulgent, self-important, humourless bloody idiots. John's my favourite Beatle, but he's not the best. He and Paul are neck and neck. That's why the Beatles worked: the competition between the two major songwriters.
When I work out every day at lunch, we always have the radio on a classic rock station. Well, imagine my surprise when I heard "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles! I sat there and thought, "Wow, I almost forgot that it is the anniversary of John Lennon's death!" What a senseless act Chapman performed. RIP, John...
If anyone is interested, here is the complete John Lennon Playboy Interview. If I remember correctly, it was done about 2 weeks before he was shot. http://www.bcpl.net/~rick/lennon.html
