Fiesta - Miami v. OSU Rose - WSU v. Iowa (they'll get this right or the Rose may reconsider their agreement after 2005) Sugar - Georgia v. USC Orange - OU vs. FSU edit: you have until 2:30pm CST before they are announced on ABC. (if anyone cares, which by the look of this barren thread, its only me.)
Fiesta: Miami vs. OSU Rose: Oklahoma vs. WSU Orange: Iowa vs. Florida State Sugar: USC vs. Georgia Cotton: Texas vs. LSU
is notre dame offically out of the BCS race? i don't see how they could fit into any of the match-ups, but i can't imagine someone doesn't want their fan base at one the games. (i really really really hate notre dame)
its between Iowa and ND for the last at-large bid. ND travels better, but Iowa has the better record and a piece of the Big 10 title. We'll find out in 10 minutes.
ND does not travel better. It's one of the biggest myths in college football. At the 2000 Fiesta Bowl, which I attended, the split of Oregon State fans to Notre Dame was literally 80-20. It wasn't even close. Iowa will likely bring at least 35,000 to their bowl game this season, according to early projections.
Perhaps you're right. That is something I have heard from the media for over 15 years, but I have no physical proof. However, one can't deny the national appeal that Notre Dame has. Surely any bowl game would find Notre Dame more profitable to their bottom line than Iowa.
Official announcement: Fiesta: OSU v. Miami Sugar: Georgia v. FSU Rose: WSU v. OU Orange: Iowa v. USC this is a total travesty. The Orange Bowl has a Rose-tinted look to it and OU goes to Pasadena? Blow the BCS up now.
actually, i kind of like it. OSU & Miami did what they were supposed to to play in the championship. no one cares about UGa and FSU, so put those two boring teams together. Iowa and USC are two teams that are arguably playing great ball right now, but didn't do the right things early in the year to make it to the championship. i'm looking forward to that match-up and it couldn't have happened in the rose bowl. that leaves WSU and OU in the rose. not a bad match-up, either. i'm pretty happy... ...especially since ND doesn't get to play in the BCS!!!
Hmm. Orange Bowl is playing for second place.....perhaps OU can finish 3rd? Or do you think UGA beating a mediocre FSU team will keep them #3?
Two losses to one... I can't imagine a scenario (even if USC dominates Iowa) that a two loss team jumps Georgia, especially the way Georgia has played lately.
