Did nobody pay attention when they told us how to address/refer to Yao?

Don't know if it was mentioned but on the front page of CC.net they use "Ming" in the highest points, rebounds and assists, when they use everyone esle's last name; like Francis, Mobely, etc. I find this strange. They should be using Yao in my opinion.

His parents or elders won't call him just "Ming", that's just strange. They most likely call him a nickname given to him when he was a kid; in his case, my guess would be "Xiao ming" or "Ah ming", which meaning kinda like "little ming". My bet is "Xiao Ming" since adding "Ah" is more a southern Chinese tradition.

Chinese people don't use just 1 character to refer to a person or thing; they usually like to make it two. Most people's first name consisted of 2 characters ("zhi zhi", "xiao ping"), so their friends or family call them just that. Since Ming has only two characters total (Yao and Ming). my guess would be that his friends call him "Yao Ming" and his parents in private call him a nickname that's either based in Ming or something totally unrelated.

But if you don't know him, u don't call him "Yao", u call him "Mr. Yao" ;)

But that's just in Chinese societies. In the US, like he said, he doesn't care what you call him.

    How about this.

Third person reference: the big guy.
    Second person reference: Big Guy.
