It's a pretty good field other than Joe Johnson (and Kevin Love). Love is in it because he's a star player, not because he's a good shooter. Jones is in it because he won last year (it's a rule--last year's winner gets an automatic invite) Chalmers, Morrow, and Anderson are in it because they are good shooters. Johnson is in it because he gets paid a lot of money? Some guys I'd like to see do it are Novak, Klay Thompson, and Redick.
where the hell is Brandon Rush? What the hell do you have to do to get into the 3pt shootout these days if that guy doesn't get in? I guess you have to be a scrub on Miami to even get a look.
Pretty sure the reigning champion gets an automatic invite to the dunk contest. That is how Nate Rob kept winning it year after year at one point.
Novak probably doesn't play enough to get in, but I'd like to see him in just one 3-point competition. He seems like the kind of shooter who would thrive in the sterile environment of a shooting contest and I'd expect him to blow away the field.
Yeah if Lin/Novak came onto the scene like a week earlier, Novak would probably be in. I'm guessing they get send out invites around the time the starters or reserves are set in stone.

They need to stop taking this so seriously and put players like Bosh Griffin Howard Bynum Gasol Who wouldn't want to see that disaster?? Last place loses his spot in the All Star game.
I have absolutely no clue how Brandon Rush isn't in it. He's only leading the entire league in 3-pt % this season.
Keep in mind some guys prefer to take a break during this weekend, which is probably a great idea this season. Perhaps Rush and Novak turned down invitations.
I'd do it like: Jones Miller Rush Allen, dude makes 49% while attempting 4.6 per game, that's just sick. Chalmers Anderson
PS I looked up, Joe is 117th in 3pt% this year with 35.1%. Was 29.1% last season. Why the F did they pick him, if they wanted a veteran wouldn't Allen, Korver, Jefferson or Ginobili be a better choice?
