I love how all of the "ideal" trades result in him landing on a team that the media already has bias towards. With the exception of Atlanta, not sure what's going on with that one.

    1. The Magic trade Howard, Hedo Turkoglu and Ryan Anderson to the Miami Heat for Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade

Why Orlando makes this deal: This move not only keeps the Magic in the playoffs, but it could very well keep them in title contention in the Eastern Conference. Wade is still a top-10 player in the league, and Bosh is a top-five big man. Just how good Bosh is often gets lost in Miami because he's the third wheel there, but he reminded us of his ability while Wade sat out nine games this season due to injury.

During those games, Bosh averaged 26 points and went for 30 or more four times. Since Wade returned 11 games ago, Bosh has averaged just 14 points. It's not that Bosh and Wade can't play together (in fact, they're a great duo), it's that Bosh often becomes an afterthought with LeBron James and Wade being so spectacular on a regular basis. In Orlando together, they'd be as formidable a 1-2 punch as there is in the league.

Why Miami makes this deal: Teaming James and Howard would give the Heat the best perimeter player and the best big man in the league. You'd also have the best perimeter defender and the best interior defender. And to top it off, the pieces would fit together better than they do now.

The Heat would be downright scary. And it wouldn't just be the James and Howard Show. Anderson would be the stretch 4 who would open up the floor for Howard to work inside and for James to slash to the basket. Turkoglu would be an additional playmaker, and you'd still have Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, James Jones and Udonis Haslem. Oh my goodness! James would be able to handle the ball like he did with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he'd have the options of finding Howard, finding his shooters or doing it himself.

    2. The Magic trade Howard and Turkoglu to the New York Knicks for Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler

Why Orlando makes this deal: This trade gives the Magic a superstar in Anthony and a spectacular role player and leader in Chandler to build around. While the Knicks have yet to win with Anthony, he has proved throughout his career that he plays winning basketball. Not only did he lead Syracuse to the NCAA title, but he helped Denver go from 17 wins to 43 during his rookie season, and led them to the playoffs every season and to the Western Conference finals once. Jameer Nelson, Jason Richardson, Anthony, Anderson and Chandler is a formidable first five.

Why New York makes this deal: The Knicks would rather include Amare Stoudemire instead of Anthony, but Orlando shouldn't settle for that. With the emergence of Jeremy Lin, the Knicks would have unstoppable pick-and-roll combinations with both Howard and Stoudemire. Furthermore, Howard's terrific rebounding and defense would make up for Stoudemire's deficiencies, and Stoudemire's ability to shoot from the perimeter would keep him and Howard from cramping each other's style.

And the questions about Anthony fitting into Mike D'Antoni's system would vanish. The Knicks would hate to give up on Anthony so quickly, but for the chance to get Howard, they'd have to do it.

    3. The Magic trade Howard, Turkoglu and Richardson to the Atlanta Hawks for Joe Johnson, Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia

Why Orlando makes this deal: This trade would keep the Magic in the playoffs and give them good versatility. They could either start Pachulia in the middle and play Horford at the 4, or play Horford at center next to Anderson. The latter lineup would open up the floor and the driving lanes for Johnson.

Why Atlanta makes this deal: Atlanta isn't going anywhere. It's a nice second-round playoff team, but that's it. Getting Howard, especially while keeping Josh Smith and Marvin Williams, could change that. Jeff Teague gets better playing with Howard, who -- don't forget -- hails from the ATL.

    4. The Magic trade Howard, Turkoglu and Nelson to the Los Angeles Lakers; the Magic receive Andrew Bynum from the Lakers and Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry and Chase Budinger from the Houston Rockets; the Lakers send Pau Gasol to the Rockets.

Why Orlando makes this deal: It gets the second-best center in the league in Bynum, one who's young, improving and hungry to prove what he can do as a No. 1 option. Plus, there's a team option on his contract for next season, so if he suffers another knee injury, the Magic can get rid of him. Scola is a very solid power forward who has a contrasting style to that of Anderson, which would add to the Magic's versatility. Lowry is a tough, hard-nosed defender who would be an upgrade over the struggling Nelson, and Budinger is a young, athletic small forward. You could do much worse than a starting five of Lowry, Richardson, Quentin Richardson/Budinger, Scola/Anderson and Bynum. The Magic remain a playoff team in this scenario.

Why Los Angeles makes this deal: The Lakers are looking to make a splash, the kind of move that will put them back in serious championship contention. While they'd hate to lose both Bynum and Gasol, in this deal, they'd get their building block for the future in Howard, plus another playmaker in Turkoglu and a major upgrade at point guard in Nelson. They would be weak at the 4, with Troy Murphy and Josh McRoberts sharing time, but they'd be stronger everywhere else.

Why Houston makes this deal: Even though they've played well recently and moved into the Western Conference playoff picture, the Rockets know they can't become a true contender without a star. Gasol showed in Memphis earlier in his career that he can carry a club to the playoffs, and his play in L.A. has picked up over the past few weeks (he's averaged 18 points and 12.5 rebounds on 50 percent shooting his last 10 games). In this scenario, the Rockets keep Kevin Martin for a nice inside-outside combo. While they lose Lowry, they've got capable replacements in Goran Dragic and Jonny Flynn.

The Magic could also leave the Rockets out of this deal and trade Howard, Turkoglu and Nelson straight up for Bynum and Gasol.

    5. Send Howard and Turkoglu to the Chicago Bulls for Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Taj Gibson and the first-round pick the Bulls received from the Charlotte Bobcats (which is unprotected in 2016)

Why Orlando makes this deal: The Magic would get three great defenders who fit in nicely in Stan Van Gundy's scheme. Yes, they'd become a team without a superstar, but with this collection of heady, high-energy players, they could be like the Indiana Pacers, at least.

Why Chicago makes this deal: As good as the Bulls are right now, they can only beat Miami if Miami doesn't play up to its potential. The talent gap is wide enough right now that the Heat have to beat themselves in order for Chicago to advance.

But a tandem of Rose and Howard would make that talent gap disappear. And the fact that Rose and Howard would actually fit together would perhaps turn the tables in Chicago's favor, since, as good as they are, James and Wade are not a great fit playing together in the half court. You'd still have Carlos Boozer, Richard Hamilton, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer and Omer Asik, not to mention the addition of another playmaker in Turkoglu. As the Bulls stand now, there is so much weight on Rose's shoulders that he could collapse in the playoffs.

I'd rather not be able to have an erection for a month than to see that trade (with the Rockets) go down.

I've noticed a lot of writers throwing around REALLY bad Rockets proposals lately. Simmons started it, but Broussard has been the worst.

I SO want that first one to happen just for the sake of chaos and comedy.

The logic behind these trades are profoundly idiotic.

My question is, does Chris Broussard even watch basketball games?

I've been all for trading for Pau Gasol, but I don't like this deal one bit.

Is it really that bad of a deal?

Dragic is capable of being a very good starter in this league. Replacing Lowry with Dragic and Scola with Gasol seems like an upgrade to me. Budinger is a role player.

The main downside is that it hurts our capspace.

LOL at the Atlanta deal, Atlanta basically puts Dwight in his current situation (in a subpar city) so they could kiss him good bye, and Orlando becomes 1st round fodder with a bloated Joe Johnson contract. Plus, Horford's injured.

Does he know anything about the NBA?

After reading this, I've come to the conclusion that ESPN writers are actually ghostwriters for David Stern....These are all David Stern moves...

Yes it actually is. Lowry to Dragic is NOT an upgrade at all.

No matter what happens, we still get to keep "capable" Johnny Flynn. Aren't we lucky!

I'm sorry, but going from Lowry to Dragic is a very big downgrade. This is coming from someone who thinks Dragic could start in the right scenario.
