Saw a foot and ankle doc today who was highly recommended. Basically, he told me I was developing bunions and it is just something people with my foot bone structure are prone too. You can't really tell anything by just looking at my foot but my big toes have been getting irritated and popping for awhile now. He showed me how to tape my feet and that seems to be helping a ton. He also wrote me a prescription for some orthotic soles and for some anti-inflammatories. He said I might need to consider minor surgery when I get into my 40's, but as things stand my metatarsal is still within normal ranges. Anyhow, just curious if anyone had any other advice.
Couldn't help you with that but I suffer from arthritis in my feet and shin splints, have for years and I'm only 26 . Problems with your feet/legs are always the worst as you can't help but use them daily. Hopefully it works out for you.
I have watched bunionectomies before, and they really are brutal. Especially the ones where they're doing an osteotomy. I believe nowadays, more advanced surgeries are used in by a small percentage of doctors. I think they do something like thread a wire through your first and second metatarsals, and pull it tight, and this is what keeps the alignment(never seen this, just read about it). I would have this surgery, but if it were me, I would never have a bunionectomy with an osteotomy. They just look gruesome. I know someone that had one on one of her feet, and she said she'd never get the other one done. Just my two cents. Don't mean to scare you, either.
About a year ago I started getting pain and swelling in the joint near my big toe. I finally went to a doc and they said I was developing a bunion and that was causing all the irritation. She talked to me about surgery and orthotics, but I ended talking her into giving me an injection to get rid of the inflammation. It's been about 7 months and I haven't had any issues since. Not sure how long it will last, but you might want to give that a shot as a short term solution.
I dunno if it's bunions, but the outside of right big toe now comes out and curves like it is swollen, but it doesn't hurt unless you put pressure on it from the side. Toe is the least of my problems. I had a severe ankle sprain 2 years ago and never did proper rehab, so now my ankle clicks and swells any time I hoop or do something active. When I say click, I mean I roll my ankle around side to side and it sounds like crunching, I always tell people to put their palm around my ankle and then I do it, grosses them out haha.
Our neighborhood association had to sue those bastards for chopping down all the trees in the local park.
YARRRGHHH... I thought I was going to post here about that movie... but you beat me to it, sir. "Where are you shot?" Well done.
Your feet and ankles are basically a much worse version of mine. What you are describing is a lot bone spurs and the big toe issue sounds exactly like a bunion. Go see a legit foot and ankle surgeon and they should be able to give you good advice.
I thought I had the turf toe from playing tennis but it turns out only to be a subungual hematoma- basically the entire big toe is purple with blood underneath the entire nail bed. there's some pain when I stop and start quick but it can be fixed with better shoes and time to heal and grow back another nail. bunions and turf toe are way more painful from what I have read in the last week.
