like how many households watch or can get the rockets games?

and also does anyone know if the rockets have experienced a big boost in sales and advertising from china since yao ming came? i'm not looking for a 'yes they have' answer. i'm looking for actual numbers if possible.

I am a Shanghai Sharks fan,and now I'm also a fan of the Houston Rockets for Yao's arrival.
As I know, more and more basketball fans in China have turned to care for Houston and there is a 'Yao Fad'.But 'actual numbers '?You've got to be joking.

Some Rockets games are aired on CCTV-5 which is supposed to reach all households with TV in China.

i estimate that at least .6-.7 Billion CHinese have constant access to TV(Where there's a TV set, there's CCTV). Although it isn't possible that most of them will have time to sit down and watch a whole basketball game(Gotta make money), more and more tv receivers put an eyesight on YAO cox as many guys said 'yao is the hero of China'.
Asking for 'accurate number' is quite naive, cox it's even impossible to dig out the actual number of Chinese population. I can tell you, even lil kids playing bball on playgrounds hang 'yaoming' on their lips.

I saw from a recent article (ESPN, NBA?) . Ming's NBA debut game is broadcasted to 150 million households in China.

Is there a company in China that does TV ratings? I would think it shouldn't be too hard in the urban areas.

for instance, last game with boston. there are a living reboradcast in shanghai sports channel. it is sunday morning here about 10:00am. Everone have a tv set can watch it for free, for sure, some money get to the original broadcast provider in US. The rule here are they make money from the advertisement not the end user, audience. (for we dont have sth like payable cable channel here in most case)

Sometimes CCTV-5 have a live broadcast, roughly once a week, then people all around the country can watch, like vs Spurs on
    Dec.3,
Sometimes only Shanghai sports channel have, then only people
in this city and those have satellite channels can watch, like vs
    76 ers recently.

Lucky I got both of them:D

Another reason, the game begin at 9:30 pm in China, people cann't watch them on weekday.

I'm here in shanghai, where yao come from, the second biggest city in China.
We can see 3 live game every week, one from CCTV, another from local TV station.
But there is not many correlative commercial activities so far, although i think it should be a big market.

You are truly the voice of reason.. Thank goodness there was someone else who already spoke up.

Statistics may lie, but I doubt that those numbers are off by 100%. :p
