Though I normally dont like plyers trash talking, this time I am cool about it. I think Steve is trying to fire up his teammates as well as the crowds.

BTW how was the attendance in Sixers' game. On TV it looked a bit empty on the upper tier.

This isn't your father's Rockets team. It is an emerging team. If it is also a focused team then Sac can be a new opponent as was SA last week, and demons exorcised. The Sac game was noooo fun, but watching this team learn its new who it is is fun.

Perhaps a good 1st 1/4 might ignite a great nite?

PS It ain't trash when you back it up, so trash'm, Stevie!

    Rockets are going to win.

I doubt Thomas starts. I think Griffin matches up well with Webber. Same for MoT. I'm not sure if we have ANY advantage on ANY end of the floor if put KT on G Wallace. If we put Rice, at least he'll provide some outside so we can have spacing on the floor.

X-Factor is Glen Rice. We live and die by him in this game. It's about time Francis has a monster game. What better time than against the Kings, who always destroy us, at home when we'll have more fans than usual, and it will be a huge ! for the league to take notice.

It's just time. Watch Mobley light up the Kings.

If the Rocket continue to play team ball like they did last night and cut down on turnovers, they can beat Sacramento. I hope Steve doesn't try to take upon hiumself to back up his word. If he remain focus and get every involve, then we should be able to handle the Kings. It's about time that we beat this guys. We beat the Spurs after they beat us 15 out of last 16, so I think the Rocket will be up for the Kings consider how they beat us up in Sacramento.

    I like it.
There is nothing wrong w/ confidence. Shows heart.
Actually if he says anything other than that I will be questioning him as a basketball player.
No matter how good the competition u should always believe u are bettter, or u will end up a loser for yur career.

Can't speak for the entire series, but last game they brought an intensity we just couldn't match. They acted like the entire season boiled down to one lucky bounce or one bad call. Untill the game was put away, they were intense about everything, bot ends of the court. Every lazy pass we floated, they reache out and ripped away from us, the on the ensuing fast break they all ran.

I think our biggest problem is we always feel there is another chance comming. I can force this shot, I can miss this free throw, I don't have to take care of the ball because there is enough talent for us to come back later. Kings acted like it was all important and all right now.

We aare young and talk about tomorrow. They see a window and want to hit it while they can.

Currently is the color man for the Timberwolves broadcasts. He filled in for us last year when Murphy was out. Did a good job. (I am guessing taht Murph was having cataract sugery - you know all the bright cloths)

Jim Petersen was the first person to teach me basketball. He used to have a "learn the fundamentals with Jim" or something during the Rockets telecasts. I guess I took those a little too seriously cuz my bball skills didn't exactly pan out :D

And Petersen's in Minnesota? I live in Sac and he does stuff for the Kings. Wow...is Petersen the next Tom Tolbert?

I don't mind what Steve said. It shows that he's serious about getting this monkey off our back.

We need the win because it would suck if we meet them in the playoffs and haven't beat them in a long time.

As long as Steve doesn't get ejected for some BS ( ) reason I think he will bring the fire.

Lets not forget... no matter what Dallas has been doing this year... Sac plays the best fundamental basketball in the world. They play good defense... they pass the ball better than any other team... They are the best team in the league IMO.

Steve also knows the caliber of Sac... and knows that if we are going to get any respect around the league... Sac is the team we have to consistently play well against which we haven't.

I really don't see us beating them... we don't match up with them...

We'll play hard, but they are just plain better than us right now...

This type of evaluation between these two particular teams means nothing. The Kings play team ball ALL the time. The Rockets will get run out of town if they don't play team ball no matter what the individual matchups say.

I was in the upper deck and my section (213) was full until the 3rd quarter when people started moving down. But we were screaming our heads off. After that Ming "over the head" toss to Francis and ensuing putback jam, the entire section went crazy. Haha.. there were these two Asian kids who went buck-crazy everytime Ming touched the ball-there. Thetwo Sixers fan sitting next to me pretty much shut up after halftime. :D

We dominated them when we had Hakeem playing without injuries. We have generally been embarrassed by them since. It's all about match ups and their team game beats the iso o/no defense of the sf/cat rocks. Hopefully with Yao and only eight Sac players in uniform we can turn this around now.

Battle plan for tax and CBA Slash

Yao will receive 18 mil for the next 4 years. He will pay 10% to his agent, which leaves him approximately, 16 mil. The max tax he will pay here in US, 40% of 16 mil, and that will cut the pie to 10 mil. Assume that CBA will take 50% (or 10%, which is obviously better) from the remaining 10 mil, that will give him 5 mil. But he can claim the 5 mil as foreign tax and/or deductible cost on his 1040NR form, which he will at least get 2 mil back from the tax return. Since he is a non-resident here, he will be immuned from Social Security and Medicare taxes for the first five years while he is in the states. That will give him a further break. He does not need to claim the tax refund to the CBA. He must, or most probably had a financial planner for him. If he decided to buy a lot of Unite Airline Stocks, he might be task free for a while.

Thus, even with 50% slash from CBA, he will still probably make 7-8 mil for the next four years.

Should Yao is an US born player with an agent, he will still have to pay 10% to the agent and 40% to George. He still ends up with less than 10 mil in the pocket. There is a difference of 2 mil here which is not much for him (but substantial for most of us which will take us life time to make that much :( ).
