Alright, the poll on the front page is pretty explicit: most people on this board (including myself) support signing Mo... but... What if you were given a 100% guarantee that Falk will pull his typical garbage, and Mo will leave at the end of this year... but that the Rockets will also make the playoffs. Is the lower lottery pick worth a season in the playoffs if we lose Mo as well? I would actually say "no." While I think a team should do everything it can to win, I think something must be said for long-term plans. That said, if there was even a 20% chance of Mo staying, I vote for signing him. Do you think that Rudy & co have already talked to Mo about some sort of promise to resign given enough money, or do you think they're jumping off a cliff and crossing their fingers that the water will be deep? ------------------ David Falk is a MoFo. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001. [This message has been edited by haven (edited August 25, 2000).]
I'm almost certain that they will be signing Mo to more than one year. That way they won't have to lose him next year and still have enough to pursue a big FA. Is this even possible for them to sign him for more than a year, with a steady increase in the player's salary within a three year span?
"Is the lower lottery pick worth a season in the playoffs if we lose Mo as well" -haven Good question - and one that won't be answered for at least a year... At least we'll have plenty of cap space by then to make up for any 'losses' in the event that this happens... ------------------
