I have read that it is only beneficial for older people whose bodies have stopped or declined producing it.
I do a multivitamin in the morning then branch BCAAs and Whey after I workout. Plus I drink some health shake in the mornings. Have to bring in healthy vitamins to balance out all the terrible stuff I put in my body at school ha.
Things I take daily: - 1 multivitamin - 1 vitamin D tablet - 1000-2000 mg vitamin C - 1-3 tablets of glucosamine (bought a whole bunch on sale... not sure if it really helps anything) - Creatine (5 mg 1 hour before resistance workouts) - Whey protein (1-2 scoops after workouts)
Colostrum -better well-being, seems to give more energy Milk Thistle, -liver health, can't tell difference Folic acid + Zinc -repair dna, can't tell difference I tried Garlic oil in capsule form but it appears I'm allergic to it.
Nice. I can play. Buy all my sups at swanson.com--best pricing and quality I've ever found and I've done a lot of searching With breakfast (2 scoops whey, brand Jarrow Formulas mixed with a lil raw honey) -Green Tea Extract, for same reason as you but I take three capsules -apple cidar vinager (5 capsules from swanson brand for detox/fat burning) -Pinebark/Cinnamon combo (1 capsules) for same reason you do -5 capsules of saw pamento (prosate health, DHT blocker) preworkout (30 to 45 min later): 1 scoop NO Shotgun, 2 g of amino acid leucine, 1 scoop of instantized branch chain amino acids post workout: 2 scoops whey above, 1 scoop IBCAA, 2 g leucine Chromium: try to take before lunch and dinner, helps body digest fat & carbs, natural supplement found in high amounts in onions Krill oil: Try and take 2 g a day, found it from my research to be better than fish oil organic broken cell wall chlorella-why, potent anti-oxident-all research avail on mercola.com just before bed: 15 or 20 grams of L-arginine (powder) and 1 scoop of IBCAA reason? medical studys show 15 g + of arginine at night trigers growth hormone production. Also helps me sleep. I also make it a point to try and get 15 g of amino acid leucine because again, medical studies have show this amino acid to be critical in protein sythesis an anabolic in higher dosages and to prevent catabolism on calorie restricted diets. I do not follow this regimine everyday, primarily just week days as a part of my normal routine. Weekends off.
Centrum "old man" multi - I figure the extra old man stuff couldn't hurt. CoQ10 - 400/mg day I think I must have some sort of metabolic disorder or something, because if I don't take the CoQ10 for a couple of days, there is a very noticeable slow decline in energy and alertness, and when I take it again, It's like a cup of coffee without the jitters. Melatonin - 12 mg before bed It is the most effective "supplement" that I've ever taken. I'd highly recommend it for anybody with sleep problems. Your whole day works better when you get high quality sleep. Not sure if it really counts, but I've also been on and off a "unrefined foods" no sugar or flour meal plan from a place called Victory Meals. I'm really skeptical of these sorts of things, but the stuff works. It is far more effective than any supplement in terms of optimizing my brain and body.
+1 for CoQ10. I have taken this in the past and felt a noticeable difference. I can't vouch for the "anti aging" effects, but it does pick you up. Although 400mg sounds like a lot (I would normally take 150-200 or so). I may have to try this. I've taken to wearing a nightmask when I sleep to block out all light, it really does make a huge difference when I wake up. I feel so much better rested and my eyes don't feel so "tired". One caveat, I'm extremely sensitive to light, so that might factor in. Thanks for the recommendation. I may have to try this out.
Checked them out. Seems like they do the paleo diet in prepared meal form. It works. Edit: Take it back. Seems like it is paleo+starches.
Nice pointers, much appreciated. I'll have to try the arginine at night thing, I'm terrible about remembering to take anything after 2PM though. Also forgot to mention, my cinnamon typically includes a dose of Chromium, and I also don't imbibe on the weekends, same as you.
I'd recommend taking a multi-vitamin from Blue Bonnet...it has plenty of different extracts for male support and function (prostate health, cardiovascular, energy, etc...). Its unlike any other vitamin pill out there. I also take arginine and fish oil. And I usually eat a piece of cake or a cookie at some point throughout the day.
5000 iu of Vitamin d3 every morning. I sleep much better. I used to take fish oil. Need to get back to that.
good stuff, DM. I am interested trying some of them. I am really bad with taking vitamins, ugh. -Multi Vitamin -Whey powder -BCAA -Creatine -Fish oil -Vitamin D -Folic Acid I've tried drinking a 8oz water with a 1-2 TBSP of Apple Cider Vinegar but after couple of days, I can't get it down. I've tried adding stevia. No can do.
everyday: fish oil zinc protein post workouts every now and then: multivitamin wheatgrass dont take multivitamin/wheatgrass everyday because i eat a lot of veggies/fruits. i mostly do the paleo nutrition but i also like my whataburger now and then. i have been thinking about taking some sort of B vitamins and the bee pollen supplement sounds interesting. what kind do you take donny? any other B vitamin supplements good? biotin? will also look into melatonin and arginine. always hear about arginine in workout supplements but it just makes me more skeptical.
Arginine is the real deal. Google Arginine medical studies and read some of the medical applications of this essential amino acid.
A few tips: Keep your vitamins at your desk at work, literally staring you in the face. Once with breakfast, once with lunch. Pretty easy routine to get into. And I take my ACV as a shot with a water chaser, seems to be more tolerable that way.
I need to do this...many times, I just run out the door for work and realize during my drive that I forgot to take them. I'll bring them to work.
Good tip. I work from home twice a week so obviously would have to have two sets. I drink two cups of green tea per day maybe 3 times a week. Adding the green tea extract would be good. BTW, I talked to a beachbody rep last weekend and she said there are vitamins in their whey protein powder. Have you heard anything about Shakeology?
Read somewhere it's 2 teaspoons with 16 oz of water. I don't think it changes it THAT much but could make it more tolerable. I'll try it with a 3/4 shot and chase it with water like DonnyMost suggested.
