With talk of bringing in Brand, I think ppl lose sight of the problem. Brand will need his touches and throw the game off a little farther. Didn't it ever seem odd watching Barkely and Dream. They never fed or benefited each other. They had similar low post game and would clog the middle. And we would break up the little chemistry we have. Francis and Mobley play well with each other and seem to be more in to it with each other on the court. We don't want to break that up. If you watched the Philly game it is aparent that our big 3 is Yao,Francis,Mobley. Don't break up a good thing. Griffin still can develope into a defensive presence. Thats what we need. We also need a solid 3, not many ok ones.If you have many players at similar levels, its hard to distiguish jobs and minutes. We need to give some depth to a team that needs it and get one good player. I like the thinking behind Brand idea, he is a great player. But we need another slasher not a post player. A finesse shooter that pulls out the 4 is what we need to clear up the post not clog it up. Griffen and Mo Taylor do that. Our forwards must be packaged for one solid forward. We should look at a team with two solid type forwards that we need that play the same position. We take one and replace them with depth, players that know their role on bench and won't argue with minutes. In the case of clippers, Brand is all they got at 4 that contributes any substantial amount. I think we should look at the 3, not the 4. Hou trades: Kenny Thomas Glen Rice Terrenc Morris Tito Maddox (or Moochie, which ever) future 2nd round draft pick Cle trades: Tyronne Hill Ricky Davis Houston reason: Losing a few 3's and 4's get us a chance to focus more on the players we have. We solidify each position 2 deep, not a ridiculous 3. As much as depth is a positive thing, too much does lead to battle over minutes. Especially when you have 3 power forwards that want to start. We lose a three point threat in Rice but also his contract. Hill for Rice is like a swap of short expensive contracts. He could provide some veteran leadership like Rice and play for few Mins and be a banger and get the rebounds The main prize is getting Davis out of this as our new solid 3. Cleveland reason: Loses an old 4/5. Hill to them is like Rice to us. We have more 3/4 and they have more 5. So the trade takes care of the glut. They lose a great player, but with Wagner playing solid ball and Miles at the 3, they potentially face NYK's old problem with Rice Spreewell and Houston. Giving them Rice might not make sense but hear me out. Rice is older and less effective and he knows it. His time is already limited even on Hou with no solid 3. He can start or be benched and either way won't take as much time as Davis would demand. More time for Wagner and Miles and latter on James to develope. Glen can also play 4 which is a cleveland weakness. They also get a solid 4 with Kenny. Kenny just proved his value again against NO. A solid back up 3/4 with Morris who knows he is a back up. They get a good pg, whichever is given. They have nothing decent at pg right now after they traded Andre. They get a future 2nd as an inncentive. Plus they lose Davis who has gotten into many arguements with teammates an the head coach Lucas, which has led to suspensions and what not. The chemistry is shakey, and they need more mins at 2 with emergence of Wagner and Miles back and playing well at 3. They need a 4 and a 1. They get this. Potentail line ups Ming/Cato Griffin/Taylor Davis/Nachbar Mobley/Hawkins Francis/Moochie (Maddox) Illgauskas/Mihm Thomas/Stewart Miles/Jones Wagner/Coles Maddox(Moochie)/Palacio comment on what you think. Good/Bad trade? Should either team consider it?
I think Ricky Davis would be a great pick-up and I am sure that John Lucas would not mind giving him away. Davis got a 2-game suspension for arguing with Lucas last week, and we all know that Cleveland wants their hometown hero in Lebron James so they will tank the season. Ricky Davis for Tito Maddox and Kenny Thomas should be more than enough to satisfy their ultimate goals for the Cavs franchise.
So do you think the trade is fair for both sides? Or would you make modifications to the trade. Should we leave Hill and Rice out. Hill comes off the book this year as oppose to Rice who has another year.
TaiMaiShu, could you please at least do some reserch to support your view? Davis needs more "touchs" than Brand on poor shooting %. I'd rather have Brand taking 13 shots a game and make .492% of them than Davis taking 18 shots a game and make only .419 of them. do you know many of Brand's shots come from offensive rebounds? Francis (18.94)+Mobley(15.4)+Davis(17.89) would jack up almost 53 shots / game. what about Yao Ming and Griffin and others? also who's so stupid to trade their #1 scorer (Wagner played 6 games only) for Rice, Morris, K.T., Madox, and 2nd rd pick? would you trade Mobley for their Coles, Palacio, Hill, and 2nd rd pick? also your proposal doesn't work for the salary rules. at least make sure the salaries matchs before you post it. here's the website you can try it: http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker.php
