Less than Batum and that's why I think they should offer him and another young prospect to Portland. Batum would be a starter hands down in Houston.

Great synopsis of the situation. Is he a restricted free agent? The Afflalo analogy is on point. Terry as well, but although Terry is a huge spark on the offensive end, he is sub par on the offensive end. The Mavs schemes on defense allow him to play free safety, gamble, & not look as bad as he really is on the defensive side of the rock.

I could see 3-4 years around 18-25million 27 at most.

I think he's going to the Bulls unfortunately. You have to admit he'd look damn good in a Bulls uniform...no homo

Trade Martin for a decent big guy (Jefferson) or SF starter (Iggy) and resign Lee. I'd rather have Lee starting than Martin anyway ...

I think Morey is trying to pull a Lowry on Lee... but I'm not sure he'll be able to sign him to such a Rockets-friendly contract. But I really wouldn't mind trading Martin and moving Lee to the starting lineup though...

I would like for us to re-sign Lee this offseason for around the full mle. I am a huge fan of his. The way the team is currently constructed I like him as a sixth man. However, if we can somehow acquire another elite offensive player I would start lee and have Kmart as the sixth man.

Unless we trade Martin, I wouldn't resign Courtney Lee. Not because his a bad player or anything, but they'll be a ton of way's to replace what he brings to the table. Either it be through the draft (Beal, Lamb, Rivers) or just moving Budinger to the two or bringing in Sergio LLull to play SG.

The position I'm more worried about is back-up PG. Goran Dragic is an UNRESTRICTED free agent, and is arguably one of the best if not the best back-up PG in the league. Dragic is guy who is a capable starter, and will get attention from contenders lacking a PG namely Lakers and Heat.

I'm not as high on Lee as most here... I put his worth at 4yr/20M - that said, I think he'll get offer sheet(s) in the area of 4yr/28M

As far as the Bulls... they're already 11M over the cap ths year, and the only expiring contracts they have are Asik (presume they'll pay and retain) and a couple 1M contracts... I'd love to work a trade with them! I'd take Boozers 13.5M/yr over Pau's 18.5M, Deng would be the missing piece to push us over the hump, Asik would be great to take the reigns after Sam...

It's a tough decision but Lee is tougher and a more 2 dimensional player than Martin. I like Lee's defense. I say keep Lee and trade Martin if possible. Martin just doesn't play like 12 million a year. Lee plays better than 2 million.

They don't have the same chemistry.
Like what I see on the Rockets doesn't match what I see on the Knicks.
    Why is that?
Why does it seem like the Knicks are the better team?

    Thread Derailer beware-

They aren't the better team right now. You are what your record says you are, but they do have something that the Rockets dont have. Tyson Chandler. Tyson is the #1 reason for the success of Lin lead Knicks.

Tyson's pick and roll game is undeniably top notch in the NBA and I havent seen a big man like him clear out that much space for a PG to get in the paint since Amare/Nash, and I would even go as far as to say that Chandler is even better at the pick and roll even without being the offensive threat that Amare was.

Also on top of that his anchoring the defensive end has completely changed the culture of Knicks defense. That could change when Amare/Melo come back and blow defensive assignments left and right though.

The Lin/Chandler Knicks team is very similar to the Paul/Chandler Hornets teams of years past. When Melo/Amare come back the team chemistry might totally change. Its too early to tell which is the better team. However, If you put the two teams in a 7 game series the Rockets should win. They have been the better team thus far in the season.

Anyways, not sure what that had to do with Courtney Lee. I think MLE sounds about right for both parties. 10/11 Mil a year wont happen. Especially from a team like the Bulls.

I think we can do better than Martin or Lee. I am a big proponent of making a run at Eric Gordon. 1) Trade Martin 2) resign Dragic this offseason 3) sign Gordon to an offer-sheet this offseason

as far as Lee goes, if he signs a good-value offer-sheet (ala Lowry) we match (because he'd be a trade asset). If no one makes an offer we look at the trade market for him. If we don't like what we see, we keep him another half a year at low $ and see what we can do at the trade deadline. I have confidence that Morey could find a good backup SG, plus, I think Dragic would be excellent in that role as well.

A contender will offer him the full MLE. He will have multiple suitors I would imagine.

The funny thing is, if we signed him at the full-MLE, I would also assume we'd have difficulty trading him and his full-MLE sized contract -- crazy world.

Very true. I dont know if they could flip him now in the new CBA like they did with Ariza. Its just different times in the NBA. If the Rockets are going to keep him, they need to decide whether they truely want him locked up long term or not.

It really just boils down to what happens at the March 15th deadline. Players are going to move one way or another. Id say its a 50/50 chance he's a Rocket next year. Alot of things have to happen for it to make sense for the Rockets.

I have a feeling Martin and Scola will be traded at the deadline, leaving Lee and Patterson as starters.

For what its worth, I think that Lee will be back.

Martin is likely gonna be traded. They will pay him somewhere around the full MLE, unless they get a star SG in return, which I doubt it.
