what do you consider winning? because wade by himself didn't do much winning...they were mediocre.
If the lakers gave me Gasol for Martin, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But it amazes me how people, once they don't like a certain player be it yao or schaub..they keep pushing and pushing.

He's talking about contributing to winning. Wade plays defense, he rebounds, he's an excellent passer, he can set himself up and others, he gets timely steals and blocks, he's willing to do the dirty work to keep a play alive, he goes to the rim with ferocity and intention to score etc...AND he's a dominant scorer you can give the ball to at the end of games and trust that he can gett a good shot.

    Martin scores.

Sure, Wade is a superstar making $15M but Martin is making $12M. He's not worth his salary. If he was making $7M no one would be complaining. He doesn't have to have a complete game but you just don't pay out that kind of money for a guy who is useless when his shot isn't falling. Good ball movement can get you good high percentage buckets. I'd much rather have a guy that will do those other things and is an average scorer than an efficient scorer that is awful at everything else. Look at guys like Luol Deng, Gerald Wallace, Josh Smith, and Andre Iguodala. They have a similar price tag but are significantly more productive.

during the 7-win streak, he averaged 23.5 pts, before the last 4 games, he was averaging 21 pts per game.

the last two or three games the bench has won the game, so its all the starting lineup that is not doing well, not just martin.

with scola and martin struggling a bit this year, how good would the offseason trade of scola/martin for gasol and potential signing of nene have been? we could have had 2 solid 7 footers in down low to go with kyle and a stellar bench

Both Gasol and Nene are not worth their salaries, and, they make almost $32mil/yr combined for at least 3 years.
Although I know Martin and Scola are struggling, I still hate to see Gasol and Nene coming.

The problem is the max salary, without it, Wade would be worth ~25-30m

Come to think of it, this would be a perfect time to work Terrence Williams into the rotation. They should sit Martin out until he completely heals from his injury.

It doesn't matter how much Martin scores if the dude he is guarding puts up more points than him because he plays weak D

kevin martin's last game is reminding me of his sacramento years when he would put up insane numbers in a losing effort on a consistent basis.

This loss isn't on Martin, if he didn't play this game, Rocks would of gotten blown out of the game. All the starters for the Rockets had a + in the game, except Lowry. All the bench players who played all had -, the 3 amigos Patterson, Lee and Budinger averaged -16 for the game. GS Warriors lived by the 3, won by bombardment. If we play better defense guarding the 3s, the Rocks would be in better shape, but I do not mind taking loss on teams shooting low percentage shots. We'll get them next game.

+/- is useless?!?!?!? J.Lin since getting playing time is averaging around +11 a game (5 game winning streak).

Kevin Martin's adjusted plus minus has always been in the negative category, but with these new rules it has really gotten terrible.

He's just not a good player, his scoring effieciency looks good, but he is so bad defensively, he's gives it all back and then some. He'll have about 15-25 games a year where he'll really light it up, but in most games he's a negative.

He's very similar to Monta Ellis in that respect, their individual numbers end up looking sterling, but more often than not their team plays better with them on the bench.

As a player I hate Kevin Martin, always have. Team would be better served to dump him for whatever they could get and start Courtney Lee, make Chase the backup 2, and give Morris or even squid a chance as the backup 3.

I'd bet somebody would be stupid enough to give us a lottery pick for Martin, but I'd dump him for a decent rotation player, hell i'd almost give him away to any takers.

Martin's adjusted +/- would go through the roof if Dwight were playing behind him.
