Very fair question to ask. The Rockets are so deep, you have to wonder who could be stepping up if given the chance. It's a good problem to have, but it sure can be painful with a situation like Lin.
This board seems to react like we are a sub .500 team. I would like to see more of T-Will but not at the cost of winning games.
McHale is playing 10 guys right now and getting great production from his bench. Weird thread. Edit: On second thought, I see where the OP is coming from. He's saying the Rockets should be in "figure out what we really have at the end of our bench" mode rather than "let's try to actually win games" mode.
Yes, exactly. People need to realize that we brought him and wanted to keep him. But we couldnt due to cap and depth considerations.
you guys act like he never played a single game with the Rockets or the Nets. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/willite01.html He's been involved in 100 games
This is what I think the OP is saying. One way to deal with the random element in player evaluation (you mentioned earlier) is to collect a large enough sample of real NBA action. I think this is why some teams award seemingly "unearned" playing time to high-investment (lotto pick) draftees. It is good for Lin to have fallen with a PG friendly system in situation dire enough to warrant giving Lin enough minutes to both find a rhythm and build confidence.
How many teams that have winning records are concerned about playing the 15th guy on their roster? Calm down and enjoy watching good team basketball.
With Williams, we all see the flashes but do not know how his play relates to the coaches orders. He had a fair enough run of 9 games averaging 16 minutes a game. That he failed to show more than the next man (Parsons) is on him.
