I just watched last night's game again and realized Elden Campbell was hacking Yao like crazy under the basket last night and quite a few times they weren't called. Is that why his shooting was off last night?
Id say no. The majority of Yao's misses were mid-range turnarounds that had nothing to do with being fouled by another player.
I agree. People definitely are expecting a lot from a rookie who has only played 18 regular season NBA games.
He didn't have an *off* night. He just had a regular NBA game. He played fine. Some games he will hit a high percentage, and some games he won't.
A quote from Yao after the game: "I think that one of my problems was before the game I made them out to be a big, physical team that was going to push me around a lot," Yao said through an interpreter. "So when they came at me defensively, I might have had a bit of a mental block."
His *standards*????? He is a ROOKIE that has a FEW games under his belt. He has not played enough games to determine *his standards*. One or two flashes of brilliance are not *standards*. He is CURRENTLY establishing what you would call his standards.
Well, from your words ,I can draw a conclusion that there are still some people who are slow in learning the new stuff.
Even in the first couple of games when he played bad he still shot at a high %. I hardly think 38% is normal. That's low even by NBA standards. If you think 38% is a normal night for one of our best players then Rox might as well forget about Champ in couple years. Hell, they can even forget about the playoffs.
